I guess it gets to me as I work as a nurse and the amount of pts nowadays who think that they know more than you because they googled something is staggering.

Most of the time either the info they have is about something entirely different or is dodgey to begin with or means something different.

It's like suddenly medicine has become this pseudo science that anyone can attack. Look at the anti vaccination nutters ffs

Don't get me started with those people. My step-uncle is against them and he is refusing to vaccinate his new baby. I had the biggest debate with him about it the other day.

both my father and mother in law are nurses, one a pysch nurse.

They say the same things as you mate and its staggering how many people use treatment methods and medicines based on shit they find online and then when the shit goes wrong, the blame the medical system in the country.

And then the nurses have to deal with dickheads who misdiagnosed and mistreated themselves.

I love the people who go online to try diagnose a condition and misdiagnose themselves thinking it's some more serious/not as serious or totally wrong. (Because the internet can't exactly run blood, urine and physicals). That's another grave area for concern...

I always get people SMS'ing me "Dude, X person has these symptoms I tried googling it and it says it's Y condition". I just say "Go see a f*cking doctor".
