The NRL has a whole lot of ground rules around sponsors, eg, can only be a certain number of locations on jersey, can only take a % of space on jersey, cannot be a rival to NRL sponsor etc etc etc
If they have the right to have those rules, why not rules around how they look??
Because they have no say in how an organisation chooses to express their brand. You can't dictate how LG, Samsung, SANYO, CFMEU, Coal & Allied, Suzuki etc etc use their branding and logo imagery.
Some oragnsiations spend a lot of money determining style guides for the appropriate use of their logo. The reason they become so well known is because they stick to the set guidelines on their use. Imagine if Ford start using red in the logo instead of the blue oval, McDonalds started to use green instead of the "golden arches". It's not going to happen and it's not going to happen just to make a jersey aesthetically pleasing. (remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!)
In the end be grateful that your team has a sponsor and is willing to pay to associated with your team no matter what their logo looks like and if they specificy it must be on white, black, fushia or turquoise! At the end of the day it's the sponsors that make the game somewhat affordable otherwise gate prices would be triple what they are now.
