For crying out loud - the first article isn't a quote from Hunt! It's a bunch of numpties talking crap to each other.

The second article, which we can't read in full anyway, apparently quotes Su'a saying, effectively, I hope they make a decision soon.

Nothing to see here.....

I agree.

@getsmarty is simply voicing his frustration, the premise being the board are not moving fast enough and he’s concerned about losing players ..and he’d mentioned earlier that recruitment was in the hole for the moment.

There’s some foundation for these concerns, but having contracted players join into the discussion publically?

Its very unprofessional.

It’s a public slap across the chops for the board, who are in effect his bosses.

I wouldn’t criticise my bosses publicaly.

I argue with them privately, but it stays behind closed doors. It’s not good for customers.

And definitely not helpful with sponsors.
In fairness - these players whole lives are there for the public taking. They cant even go for a drink in a bar without it being made public. Our work issues dont make headlines - theirs does. Im guessing players are sick of publicly being laughing stocks. They are getting ripped on social media, they have to stand up for themselves and ask for their work environment to get sorted imo

Thanks for the response, but I’m holding firm.

If they are sick of being ripped into, they can fix their own houses first.

They earn good money, enjoy celebrity and should treat it as a privilege.

Instead they trash the club to be popular or some other stupid reason.

It doesn’t help with bonding, it’s divisive and harmful.

Thanks anyway.

Not to criticise the board!!

That’s an extreme interpretation of their job description lol.
The players and club are told before their media commitments what its going to be about. Its all more of a game/circus than people realize. Couldnt read the article though so id love to know how he criticised the board and if it was along the lines of - i hope they make a decision soon or it is frustrating for players and fans - well ive been reading this forum for a while and most seem to feel the same way - but now players say something and get criticised - interesting

You do know they are contracted and obliged to speak to the media? They roster them and they players have to take part.
I was not clear, I meant not to talk to the media about the coaching appointment not a a blanket ban on talking to the press. It’s simple instruct them not to comment on the coaching appointment if asked simply reply “I am leaving that to management to sort out”

Hooper here states that the challenge for us will be getting a unanimous vote from eight board members on the new coach. Then goes on to say that 5 of the 8 at least will need to agree on the new coach for them to be appointed. So, Hoops clearly doesn't understand the meaning of the word unanimous, despite the fact he's been pretty staunch in his criticism of the fact that the vote needs to be unanimous over the course of this whole coaching saga. Hello Hoops, that's a majority decision, not unanimous. Embarrassing

Yeah as a rugby league fan i have a little more respect for what the players do. These guys and girls are under extreme pressure to physically and mentally be at their best to perform each and every week to try to keep fans happy. I dont see Hunt or Sua out there mucking about in public, getting in trouble or letting celebrity status get to their heads. They are lucky to be doing a job they obviously love, but to get there they had to work pretty hard i reckon and staying there is harder. As for being paid the big bucks. its a short career and they put their bodies and health on the line each week to earn their money. They deserve to ask for a well managed work environment. If the board did their jobs players would not have to say anything. But ill agree to disagree on this one, dont want to go off topic too much.

maybe the club needs to institute that ban then. Another failing.

Spot on.

He clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

If it’s a majority decision then Dousty simply can’t veto Flanners on his own and all that nonsense blaming him for that was rubbish.

Even if people don’t like him, let’s not attribute an evil to him unfairly. If we do, it takes the sting out of the criticism, makes us all look ignorant like Hoops.

I noticed that too. What is the actual truth, unanimous or majority ? If majorit why are they trying to convince Doust about Flanagan ?

I’m stabbing in the dark here but I’m thinking that he thinks that if 5 want Flanagan the others might roll over for harmony. My problem is that if it was a vote for Young and 1 said no that would be the end of him.

I was born and bred in Kogarah. Played in the red and white. Have supported Saints for >60 years. I’m a full member. I’ve often told people that I’ll remain a supporter until the day I die. If Young is appointed, after the last 13 years of tragic descent to the bottom of the table, I will finally give it away - and will write to the CEO to express my utter disillusionment and disappointment.

To be a supporter of the club is one thing however, as a player, it must be gut wrenching to see the club's demise and feel so sorry as you represented our great club in the Red V.

BTW, thanks for the memories as they can never be taken away from us supports which can't be put in words.

I hope you don't give it away. Think of all the great times you had with the team and club and we will rise again.

I beg to differ, all these players employ managers, just like coaches etc, its up to the managers to ensure what their client best interest is directly with the club. How many times have you heard players say, i'm letting my manager deal with it, even most recently with Flannagan, it was his manager talking to the club in the first instance.
