The public part of his statement described the incident. The last 8 paragraphs were redacted. Seems pretty obvious the last 8 were about the impact it had on him that he didn't want to be made public. Jeez, I wonder why?

the thing about redacted statements is that it’s not obvious as to what it’s about, unless there is some sort of explanation that I haven’t seen.

but ok mate- it’s not really a big issue for me, so I’m happy to accept that as a likelihood

I wish Robinson would just stfu already. He’s been kissed on the dick since he joined the Chooks and should just appreciate it and stop moaning.

I thought over time, people have gradually been better when it comes to these sort of issues. Last week hit home for me that a very large proportion of the country have not changed an ioata regarding ignorant views of the past. It has been a disappointing week.

Unfortunately a recent vote told large portions of the public that not only is being racist ok, but you can be publicly racist and gain support.

What part of Maximus's statement is hypocritical?

He offered his opinion.
The bit where he clearly insinuates that a no vote was a vote for racism. That bit. The bit where he clearly insinuates people who voted no are racist and outwardly racist because they didn’t vote as he did. That bit.

Yeah great comments, he was unaware monkey was a derogatory term. With an IQ like this, I'm surprised he manages to get his pants on. So fellow Samoans call each other coconuts, so what? I call my best mate a dumb merkin, and it's in humour. I call someone that who's not my mate, he's going to take offense.

I'd also suggest being called a coconut is derogatory, but it's not quite the same as being compared to another species. Coconuts grow on trees in Pacific islands. Monkeys are a species that pick at their own skin and swing from trees. What these simpletons don't understand (and it's not their fault, they're young) is that whenever slurs are used, it weighs Indigenous people down. When they are called racist terms like monkey, it solidifies their status as second-class citizens in some people's eyes. It holds an entire group of people back from the equality as citizens, that they deserve. Dumb f**k comments like Leniu's deserved to be punished severely and made very public, so they are not repeated.

Seriously, WHY ARE WE THIS DUMB? People want to accept Leniu doesn't know the impact of calling someone a monkey? If so, why did he call him it? I'll answer that - because he's a dumb f**ker, he was hot-headed in the moment and wanted to cause offense/get a reaction. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing.

And at the end of it all, I knew my perspective on this was right when I saw Paul Kent disagreed. f**k me, why does that arsehole get to have any level of influence on anything. Woeful human being.
Paul Kent has the same credentials to talk as Bin Laden does to talk about airline safety over New York City

Again, that is his opinion it doesn't make his statement hypocritical, not even close. If you don't understand what a word means, It may be an idea not to use it.

This ladies and gentleman is one of the reasons why that thing failed so hard. Anyone who had questions was just belittled by the yes campaign. There were many reasons why I didn’t like that referendum but race was absolutely not one of them as it was with everyone I know
