Glad you enjoyed it, mate. I'd say Queenslanders more than Aussies mate, those two grounds just north of the border are exceptionally well organised from what I hear.

I don't think the Warriors have a tradition, at least a recent tradition, of signing cheap players 'with issues'. Sure, cheap players, but issues? Perhaps you're referring to injuries? The Warriors have shown major angst in signing players with issues that don't relate to injuries, and have shunted those players within the club with personal demons along for the sake of club culture. I'd say Seymour falls into the off field saga drama litany, and our ethos has been very much to steer clear of any of that sort of stuff.

Am I right in remembering Scurrah/Cleary came in in 2006?? Since they've been there we've brought in the following outsiders: McKinnon (no off field issues that I was aware of), Crockett (they developed when he came and he was acquitted anyhow), Witt (no issues), Kirk (no issues), Tate (no issues), Henderson (no issues), Shortland (no issues), Kemp (no issues), Moon (no issues), Lilyman (no issues), Royal (no issues), Brown (no issues), Heremaia (no issues). Taulapapa and Faumuina have been sent on their merry ways in between times.

It seems to me, unless I'm missing something, that as far as personal issues go Brett Seymour would be the first bloke they've taken a punt on.

Let's not forget that the club perservered with Hohaia, who had alcohol issues in the past. Now look at him.

People can change, I hope Seymour is one of those people.

NRL: Seymour signs up for last chance
Monday Aug 03, 2009
By Steve Deane

Brett Seymour will get his last chance.

The two-time NRL outcast has taken the first steps on what both he and his new club hope will be the path to redemption, signing a one-year contract with the Warriors.

The deal, ratified in Sydney on Friday after talks among Seymour, NRL boss David Gallop and Warriors management, contains an option for a second season.

With Seymour's off-field conduct resulting in his being shown the door by previous clubs Brisbane and Cronulla, the Warriors will be hoping the 24-year-old is still around in a year's time to exercise that option.

"I regret some of the things that have happened in the past, but I am desperate to play first-grade football again and I want to do everything possible to rebuild my life," Seymour said.

"I have a lot of people to thank for making this possible. I don't want to let them down or let myself down. I know I have to make this work."

With Stacey Jones having finally brought down the curtain on his career over the weekend the Warriors, too, need to make it work. With 101 first-grade games to his credit, Seymour is the only experienced half on the club's books for next season.

Another will be brought in. Chief executive Wayne Scurrah confirmed the club had drawn up a list of potential recruits and was now "working through that list".

One name that can be scrubbed is Daniel Holdsworth, with the Warriors having already considered and rejected the Bulldogs back-up.

Warriors management have expressed disappointment with Jones' decision not to play on, but it has given them greater flexibility on the recruitment front. Plan A was for the versatile Seymour to play at five-eighth, outside of Jones. An alternative scenario could now see the club recruit a five-eighth, with Seymour playing halfback.

After strengthening the contractual provisions around Seymour's off-field behaviour, Gallop signed off on the deal - but not before reminding the Warriors they would be held accountable if Seymour goes off the rails.

The club was comfortable with that situation, Scurrah said. "We accept the NRL has a hard-line policy on clubs being held accountable for signing players with previous behaviour issues of this type.

"Brett knows this is his final chance to make something of his career and his life and together we will be doing all we can to make it work."

Seymour is expected to settle in Auckland before the end of a season that can't come soon enough.

Saturday night's meltdown against the Panthers was yet another bitter pill to swallow.

"It summed up the season for us," said centre Joel Moon, whose four tries seemed to have put his side on the path to a resounding victory.

Instead they blew a 32-6 lead, with Lance Hohaia's extra-time field goal clattering back into play off the crossbar to condemn them to their second draw of the season.

"The ball doesn't bounce our way most games, that's how our season's panned out," Moon said.

Having watched his side finally discover its attacking groove, coach Ivan Cleary was left to lament the festival-like approach to the final 20 minutes that cost his side victory.

Brett Seymour
Born: September 27, 1984, Mackay, Queensland.

A one year deal doesn't give him much time to press his claims ...

If he hasn't hit peak form by Round 6 then do we dump him and cut our losses, or let him stay and hope he comes right - but put our season at risk?

Forward planning? You really expect forward planning from the management team that pinned all their hopes to a Stacey Jones comeback? Hell, what would happen if Stacey pulled a hammy? (Not that we could be in a much worse position).

Thank you Stacey for retiring early and forcing the club into making some positive decisions.

Now all it needs is for Hart & Cleary to admit they don't have what it takes and for the club to appoint Kearney for next year.

Off topic slightly, but I am SO sick of the crap they have talked this year.

Now Moon says 'the ball doesn't bounce our way'. I really hope they don't feel they weren't far but just didn't get any luck. I don't remember a lucky bounce benefitting the Panthers on Saturday night, I just remember pathetic defence and clocking off when 26 points up.

Couple this with the weekly 'we're not far away' and the rubbish out of the club this year has been hard to cop.

I'm sick of hearing 'this will be our year' from misguided Warriors fans every pre-season - got it well wrong in '09........

the Seymour/Maloney combo looks like a sharper option then Jones/Moon, Jones/Hohaia, Jones/John or Jones/Heremia (did I miss one?)....seems to be an obvious link there. Should see a slicker passing and kicking game from the two newbies.....we need speed and accuracy in this backline to refresh the Warriors predictable style....currently stale, boring, far too slow and easily crushed by opposition defence that rush up and nail them. Cleary has been living in dreamland for the 2nd half of the season and at least they have moved quickly to 'fix' the problem......it is so obvious that top 8 sides can sleepwalk through a game and still topple the Warriors.

we had every reason to expect a good result this season with the quality of players at Ivans disposal.

sh*t maybe you should stay away from Warriors fans and Warriors forums then you douchebag!

Douchebag...classic. I always thought a forum was an open platform for debate, but in your 'valued opinion' obviously not. Everytime I come onto this forum I encounter a handful of guys with a big chip on their shoulder, claiming rights to comment on 'their' team....strange really when I don't offer cheap shots, am Auckland born and bred and a Warriors season ticket holder from day one.....I make the trek out to Mt Smart, rain, hail or shine, every damn game....do you? Or do you just watch the game in front of a warm laptop?

As far as the Rabbitohs having a bad season? Hardly....still in hunt for top 8, scored most tries in NRL '09 so far (86), have four players with 10 or more tries, about to hit 500 points for the season (1st time in clubs history) and flogged plenty of good sides with booming tries and high scores....not too bad. But like the Warriors I expect the best performance every week. Also, I get to see 5 kiwi's run around with the Rabbitohs which is very satisfying...but I don't come on here to talk about the Bunnies.

Additionally, I did expect the Warriors to struggle this season with the re-introduction of Stacey....I have never liked his unpredictable kicking game and slow delivery...especially up against much slicker backlines. I thought they would finish possibly 8-9th....similar to 2008. Open your mind and you may appreciate other people's valued opinions....I do.

Compared to us, their year has been a glittering success- they're still in the hunt for the 8 too

Im referring to the string of failures they have had since their return. This year they have pulled themselves out of the quagmire, but in previous years theyve been even more of a shambles than us.
