Southern, Harris re-sign with Cowboys

North Queensland have re-signed back-rower Steve Southern and centre Ben Harris to the NRL club.
Former Bulldog Harris, who joined the Cowboys from English club Bradford, has extended his contract until the end of 2011.
He's likely to be shifted from the centres into the back-row next year to accommodate the arrival of marquee recruit Willie Tonga.
Southern, who has played 88 first grade games for the Cowboys since 2004, has re-signed for the next two years.
"It has always been our intention to retain rather than recruit if possible," North Queensland chief executive Peter Parr said.
"Both Steve and Ben have made significant contributions to our club and we're delighted that they've agreed to continue their careers with the Cowboys."
Queensland Origin forward Jacob Lillyman has been told by the Cowboys to test the market.

NEW Zealand skipper Steve Price has extended his contract with the Warriors for another year, the NRL club has announced.
Price, 34, will play on through next season, which will be his fifth since he moved to Auckland.

The club also said injured full-back Wade McKinnon had signed a new deal that would take him through to the end of 2011.

Price, who made his 285th NRL appearance against Newcastle in his second match back from a hamstring injury, was thrilled to extended his first-grade career to a 16th season.

“It was a great move for our family to come to Auckland and I'm excited about being able to add another season on to my time with the club,'' he said.

“It's a real boost after coming back from injury last week. Our medical staff did a brilliant job getting me back on the field and I'm really looking forward to doing all I can to help the team from now on.''

McKinnon's two-year contract extension comes as he and team doctor John Mayhew are optimistic he can return from a serious knee injury before the end of the season.

McKinnon needed a knee reconstruction after damaging anterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee in a trial match against Newcastle in February.

Mayhew said McKinnon had made much better progress than expected with his rehabilitation.

“While we can't put a date on it, we are now optimistic he'll be back on the field later in the season,'' he said.

BULLDOGS SIGN ENNIS FOR THREE YEARS
Monday 2 Jun 2008 14:59
by (Press Release)
Source: www.bulldogs.com.au

The future of the Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs has received another significant boost with hooker Michael Ennis today signing a three year deal with the Club (2009-2011).

Ennis is the fourth major recruit for the Bulldogs, joining prop Ben Hannant, back Josh Morris and halfback Brett Kimmorley in the Blue and White next year.

Regarded as a future representative player, Ennis is also part of the long-term plans for the Club.

"Our coaching staff consider Michael to be one of the best young hookers in the game. He has great speed out of dummy half, can play 80 minutes and is a handy goal kicker," said CEO Mr Todd Greenberg.

"We've picked up some quality recruits in key positions and we expect their experience and leadership will help take our existing squad to another level."

With a major part of the recruitment process completed the Bulldogs will now focus on the retention of current players.

a future representative player is a massive stretch. Ennis is a massive club s**t (Knights, Dragons, Broncos, Dogs) but a decent signing. The dogs will be a completely different side next year

Yeah thats right, all former Knights are rubbish. Forgot.

On form the call is correct. With Buderus departing next year Ennis would be next in line for the Country job, and fighting it out with Farah for the NSW job. But that line from the Dogs also indicates the kind of money they've spent on him - rep calibre money. Good signing anyway

We have signed Kimmorley, Morris, Hannant & Ennis. Suddenly we are a much more attractive club to go to than we were at the start of the season.
