"But Cullen said the club would not stand in their way if they received better long-term offers from rival clubs."

So Moon and Boyd still up for grabs
correct all three of them still up for grabs and Boyd now that he will play SOO if likely to look elsewhere and Moon is strongly linked with the Raiders.

He has. Unless I am mistaken he had serious knee injuries in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Then he left Brisbane for the Tigers.

He suffered two lower leg breaks. One of them looked like his leg bent to a right angle. Very sickening to watch.

Castleford Tigers have signed prop forward Mitchell Sargent from Australian NRL side Newcastle Knights.
Subject to obtaining a work permit, the 28-year-old will join Super League's bottom club for the rest of the current season and the next two.
He has made over 100 NRL appearances and has had spells with Melbourne Storm and North Queensland Cowboys.
"He is an aggressive forward but he also has plenty of skill," said Tigers coach Terry Matterson.
"I know Mitchell having coached him at Melbourne Storm and he will bring plenty to our squad."
He was a regular for the Knights last year until missing out on the latter stages of the season through injury.
Fully fit, he returned to action this season in the NSW Cup side and was included in last weekend's 18.
Work permit allowing, the Tigers are planning to bring Sargent over to the UK in the next couple of weeks.

Man Smith is going to cop it if Penrith play in the Raiders in Canberra next year.

http://news.theage.com.au/sport/nathan-smith-resigns-with-panthers-20080606-2mu5.html

Penrith have announced the re-signing of lock Nathan Smith for another three years despite the player agreeing to join Canberra several weeks ago.

Smith agreed to a deal to return home to the Raiders on April 29 but has since had a change of heart and decided he wants to remain a Panther.

Penrith chief executive Michael Leary confirmed the club had re-signed Smith after seeking legal advice following threats of action from the Raiders.

"Nathan has been in good form for the Panthers," Leary said in a statement.

"I'm pleased we have been able to keep him."

Jun 06 - CEO Michael Leary has announced the re-signing of Nathan Smith for another 3 years. “Nathan has been in good form for the Panthers,” Michael Leary said. “I’m pleased we have been able to keep him.”
Head Coach Matthew Elliott said that the development of Nathan as a first grade player has played a part in the success of the Panthers this year.

Faiumu's been released.

Faiumu cuts ties with Cowboys

ANTONY STEWART

07Jun08

COWBOY David Faiumu has been granted a release from the remainder of his NRL contract and is expected to join Huddersfield in the English Super League next week.

The hooker, who extended his stay with the club last season, was released from the final year-and-a-half of his contract yesterday, allowing him to join the NRL player exodus.

Faiumu could not be contacted for comment yesterday but he is believed to be on his way to the Giants, where he will join fellow former Cowboy Rod Jensen.

Jensen made a similar exit from the Cowboys to Huddersfield last year following four seasons at the club.

North Queensland management confirmed Faiumu would no longer be contracted to the Cowboys but declined to comment on where he would be heading.

The 25-year-old joined the Cowboys in 2004, quickly forming a devastating combination with Aaron Payne as the club's hooker rotation.

Faiumu played 76 games for North Queensland, scoring eight tries, and played in the Cowboys' 2005 grand final loss to the Wests Tigers. He became a New Zealand international in the same year.

But Faiumu has played just four games this season, spending the majority of the year in the Queensland Cup after falling behind Anthony Watts in the club's No. 9 rotation.

The Cowboys have also recently signed George Gatis on a match payments-only deal to further bolster their stocks at dummy-half.

It has been anything but a settled 2008 campaign for Faiumu, who has had to combine his football with court appearances.

He was charged in Townsville earlier this year in relation to an alleged altercation with a 23-year-old man in Rockhampton's CBD last November.

What?

I'm a Manly fan.

LOL my bad...well...the Way Canberra fans acted towards Monoghan's then when they left for Manly and the Roosters.

Seems I remember a group of moronic Raiders fans...some whom post on here...threatening to bash Monoghan as he came out of the shed's..
