He really looked a promising player when he burst on the scene in 2006, when we made that great run under JT he was great in an undermanned pack. But unfortunately he just hasn't kicked on. All the best to him hopefully he goes alright in the old dart.

Isn't the season October to October?

more like 40K

1st November to 31st October.

I'm wondering if Josh has a European passport or an English parent or grandparent given the reduction of the rules. Hull FC are near their quota I believe.

I remembered something like that. Not sure of the rules but I'd assume that as part of the EU (anyone correct me if I'm wrong) but he'd qualify as a local player?

Bye Josh, all the best in the old dart.

Downtown Hull is definitely not the world... but hopefully he can grab a few cheap flights to Europe in his weeks off.

Well its alot closer then downtown Parramatta, thats for sure!

So there's alot of ex-eels in the UK at the moment, hey?

With an EU passport he would have not counted as an import under the old rules. But the ESL is changing their criteria about imports to be based on players that have been developed locally/in Europe (ie played in the UK for three years before the age of 21) versus players that come in from overseas territories.

Can't remember the deatils any more, but I'd be surprised if Cordoba is classed as a local.

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought he'd be the sort of player that would take up a quota spot.

They have Peter Cusack, Todd Byrne and Shaun Berrigan as their imports currently. Unless one of the three are coming home?

He'll go well in England I think.

sorry to ruin the party boys, but the backend rule was amended earlier this season to prevent the idea posted before. you can only agree to backend a multiyear contract before it is signed.

shame to see him not kick on, but good luck to him

Yeah great! So the Bulldogs rort the cap and get away with it yet again...

Sooooo fair that they change it mere months after Ryan and Patten get frontloaded :(

Oh well - no cap relief at all for Parra - but good on Josh for getting a gig and all the best to him! Real tryer, just too small a body for the NRL these days.

oldmancraigy has a point. There is no reason why we cant do that. I wonder if we could of done that with Brett Finches contract earlier in the year.

Hi guys, I'm a Hull FC fan and just got the news about Cordoba's signing, so thought I'd have a nosey to see what everyone thought about him.
Apparently he has a Spanish passport so we wont have any problems visa wise (like we had with Micheal Crocker and Hame Lauaki) Just to add Todd Byrne is now off our quota, as he was released after getting an injury that would have kept him out for the rest of his contract. Cusack will be out for the rest of the season too, so we needed a bit of help in the pack.
Any thoughts you guys have on him would be appreciated.
:)

We certainly could have - except we only saved about $50k on Finch's contract after we paid him out some, and after we paid for some of his "services".

Oh - and the other reason that it seems like we couldn't have is because the NRL changed the rules to get rid of this particular rort.

What we COULD do is renegotiate a deal with, say, Cayless or Hindmarsh, effective immediately, that they start on a new deal which is front loaded.
Actually - we probably couldn't do that without releasing them first, which would mean we couldn't then re-sign them for this season since it's past july 1st.

Oh well.
