We need a 1,6 & 9. Yes we have them in our roster but im not sure if there game breakers like Foran or Hayne.
Yes we got Norman which is awesome but will he carry 2016 form into 2017?
Which form? On the park or off?

So you are telling us Greenburg forced the judge to convict Corey
Sure, why not.

Not having received a police warning for consorting with known criminals probably lessened the AFL guy's sentence somewhat...
Given that the possession charge and the consorting warning occurred on the same evening (well the events that led to them both did), I am not sure that Norman's possession sentence was impacted by the consorting warning.

So why would a conviction be recorded against one, and not the other?
Potentially lots of other circumstances I would imagine.
Quantity in possession
The fact Norman also has relaxants
The fact Norman had a mate try and conceal the truth
The level of remorse shown by the offender

I don't know, as I am not privy to the case details but it is often the case where different judges hand down different sentences for similar crimes.

The warning for consorting can't (shouldn't) affect the judge's decision. Being given such a warning is not an offence, nor is it evidence of illegal behaviour. It is relevant only in the case that you get caught playing cards with the same chaps again.....and that's the only time that an offence may have occurred.

Yep, depends on the judge/magistrate presiding on the respective hearings. A bloke I know got done DUI. He was desperate not to lose his licence because his livelihood depended on driving, so he spent a bit of extra dough on a renowned solicitor who just kept asking for the hearing to be adjourned depending on which magistrate was sitting. He knew which ones were likely to come down hard and who was a soft touch. Sure enough, they waited till they got magistrate they were confident with and bingo! Section 10, no conviction and back on the road. Fine only. No consistency when you're talking about humans making these decisions.

SUSPENDED Parramatta star Corey Norman is the victim of an alleged extortion attempt that has become a police investigation.

The Saturday Telegraph has learned that Norman’s manager contacted the NRL’s integrity unit this week to report an attempt to extract money from the star Eels playmaker in exchange for a tape. Police have started investigating the alleged extortionist and it is understood they have tracked down the person involved.

It is believed the NRL is keen for the police to proceed with the case to send a message that anyone attempting to blackmail players could face prosecution. Norman was suspended last month by the NRL for eight weeks and fined $20,000 for his role in a range of off-field activities.

Suspended Parramatta star Corey Norman.
Norman not only pleaded guilty to the possession of prohibited drugs, he was also involved in a sex-tape scandal and warned by police for associating with known criminals. It is understood Norman has insisted he is not involved in any new incidents.

There is no evidence to suggest there is another sex tape.

However, the alleged extortionist may be in possession of a series of lewd photographs from the original sex tape.

The matter is still before the police and it’s believed no charges have been laid.

A spokesman for the NRL declined to comment, saying the matter was before the police.

Unfortunately for rugby league, Norman’s alleged incident isn’t the first time the game has dealt with extortion this season.

It has been previously reported that an unnamed Brisbane Broncos player this season was also the victim of an extortion attempt.

Sydney Roosters halfback Mitchell Pearce was involved in a well-publicised Australia Day video that was sold to media.

Roosters coach Trent Robinson says the NRL needs to do more to protect players.
These incidents prompted Roosters coach Trent Robinson to accuse the NRL and Players Association of not doing enough to protect players from abuses of their privacy.

“The NRL needs to step in and they need to make it public that you are not allowed to sell these on and we will go after individuals that do this,” Robinson said last month.

Robinson will be pleased with the NRL’s tough stance surrounding this latest extortion attempt involving Norman.

NRL head of integrity Nick Weeks also addressed the issue of extortion in a statement last month.

“While it is a regrettable trend in society for people to look to sell footage of sports stars in their private lives, there is an easy solution for our players,” Weeks said.

“Do not engage in activity which will damage their reputation or that of the game.”

Parramatta say they have no fears of Corey Norman slipping through their net in the wake of Jarryd Hayne's defection to Gold Coast.

Hayne signed a two-year NRL deal reportedly worth $2.4 million with the Titans and cited backroom uncertainty resulting from the salary cap scandal as a key factor, although the Eels insisted they simply couldn't match that sort of money.

Coach Brad Arthur says there is no chance of the club's administrative upheaval spoiling talks with off-contract playmaking star Norman and he expects him to remain next year.

"Corey's committed to the club, we're committed to Corey," Arthur said on Thursday.

"We need to get some clarity around the salary cap.

"But at the end of the day our offer (to Hayne) couldn't cut it with Gold Coast - it's simple. I don't have a problem with it. Jarryd's a big boy and he's got to do what's best for him and I've got to do what's best for the team."

The Eels' offer to Hayne eventually fell short of what he had been offered by the Titans by a reported $500,000 per season.

Parramatta's interim administrator Max Donnelly and Arthur refused to up their offer for fear of having to offload players and upsetting team harmony.

With the likes of superstar winger Semi Radradra, Clint Gutherson, Manu Ma'u, Tepai Moeroa and Brad Takairangi - all of whom Arthur described as priority signings - off contract at the end of 2017, it left the club with little wiggle room.

"They're important to me, they're important to this club and there was no way in the world I was going to run the risk of losing those guys," Arthur said.

Arthur said the club was possibly in the market for a specialist halfback with veteran Jeff Robson mulling over retirement plans.
