Umm you are all acting like it’s guaranteed , nsw govt gave normal presser this morning , premier and top cop did not seem impressed with the star trios actions plus some federal nut said it was at risk . I think media will find other players in the meantime breaking rules during the iso period before Friday’s decision by government and can see May 28 day scraped
I'm also waiting for something more than the NRL making it official. The Chief Medical Officer or something from the State government. That said, I hope it happens. Plus, the rate of lifting the restrictions seems to be heading in the same direction.

Meanwhile, the Qld Premier appears to have agreed in principle. This is being reported in the Courier Mail. But unfortunately there is a paywall, so can't get past the headline. Maybe someone can post the rest.

How certain posters here come across:

Yup. And to follow the analogy, the people who think the response to COVID-19 is a massive overreaction given the relative amount of deaths compared to modelling and also compared to the seasonal flu. Kinda the same as saying very few deaths have happened due to parachuting, so why do we need the parachute at all.

Although that does beg the question of whether an NRL player is strong enough to close a door on people who want to walk through it.
Use of force by a footballer against women? And of course they might have been let in/invited by his sister, who might be one of them. He could have holed up in his room and played chess online while the five babes were there, of course.

if just one of those girls had it and gave it to Cleary , a whole footy team would them become spreaders

Test the f**ker.

Warriors players Blake Green, Adam Blair and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck spoke on behalf of their teammates when they reiterated that they wouldn't leave New Zealand, even with an exemption to enter Australia, until the pay structure was agreed.

Adam Blair would be doing his teammates a favour if he stayed behind in New Zealand.

Maximum pay for maximum bludge.

Moses should be the origin half now for NSW.
Freddy's still the coach even though he tried to enter a woman's hotel room in Townsville wearing only shorts while drunk as a lord. People in glass houses....This will be forgotten 2 weeks from now, let alone when the teams are picked.

a nz, png, Samoa, Tonga cup would be awesome alongside origin. Origin Saturday night & 2 pacific cup games Sunday.

Yep, a four team comp would be neatly done in three weeks. Throw a final on the end and it is a four week, four nation Oceania Cup. The only thing I would say is that Fiji have earnt the spot ahead of PNG.

Hopefully we learn that moving forward that Origin can be held three weeks in a row, the NRL can be suspended for a rep window which maintains the integrity of the comp and the Oceania Cup can be played during that same rep window to give enough TV content needed during the rep window. To do this, Oceania Cup pool A and B would increase to four teams each.

Australia hold these tournaments and the international game in contempt anyway so build the commercial value of the tournament without them which is possible and actually good for the game in NZ, in the Pacific and the international game in general.

Friday Night: Oceania Cup A: NZ v Tonga (delicious opener)
Saturday Night: Oceania Cup B: PNG v Vanuatu & Cook Islands v Solomon Islands - DH in PNG
Sunday Afternoon: Oceania Cup A Samoa v Fiji

Wednesday Night: Origin I

Friday Night: Oceania Cup A: Tonga v Samoa (another blockbuster)
Saturday Night: Oceania Cup B: PNG v Solomon Islands & Cook Islands v Vanuatu - DH in PNG
Sunday Afternoon: Oceania Cup A: NZ v Fiji (potential blockbuster)

Wednesday Night: Origin II

Friday Night: Oceania Cup A: NZ v Samoa (potential blockbuster)
Saturday Night: Oceania Cup B: PNG v Cook Islands & Vanuatu v Solomon Islands - DH in PNG
Sunday Night: Oceania Cup A: Tonga v Fiji (another blockbuster)

Wednesday Night: Origin III

Friday Night: Oceania Cup A Final in NZ
Saturday Night: Oceania Cup B Final in PNG
From Sunday onwards all players can rest and prepare for the NRL to resume the following weekend

Please NO! 3 weeks without the NRL bang in the middle of our season...do you want to give rival codes a leg up anymore?

I actually agree with Walters. If Origin works post season this year, keep it there. There is no distractions to clubs and we keep the NRL season running all year.

Sweden didn't shut down and they have contained it well. Less deaths than a flu season. The question is going to be should we have just done that and accept a couple thousand deaths rather than ruin our economy with the likelihood of many thousands of deaths.

Apparently he doesn't even live with his sister, so how did she invite them over?

Since it is a weird season anyway and NSW period of dominance is a good time to mess with origin I think we should have NZ, Qld and NSW this season and see how it goes. NZ would rate through the roof.

I'd be happy with post season. But honestly, if it is mid-season, Origin is all the media is concerned with when it is on so wall to wall Origin will actually drown out any other sports that are on during that time. It would be a nightmare three weeks for Union and AFL.

The Oceania Cup being run on the side gives TV content and gives the Pacific and NZ their own ''Origin'' to look forward to each year.
