Would the Titans even miss Cartwright on the field? With the amount of fringe players at every club waiting for their chance, give him 24hrs if not then choose not to play him. It’s not the cleanest solution but then dragging it out isn’t either.

The Daily Telegraph has learnt about 20 players will make the call on whether they will sign an amended waiver after hesitating to receive the flu shot this week.

It is understood among those who need to decide include Manly trio Dylan Walker, Marty Taupau and Addin Fonua-Blake, Canberra players Josh Papalii, Sia Soliola and Joe Tapine, Canterbury’s Sione Katoa and Gold Coast’s Bryce Cartwright.

Apparently not!

Well that certainly will be interesting.

I can't see how the government has a right to tell people they must have the flu shot when their own employees who have been working in offices throughout this crisis are not obliged to.

Having aid that, the players should just suck it up and get it done.

Wow, wonder if any of these guys skipped their young kids injections or if this is more a herd mentality?

In aged care you have to have it ti work in a residential home so their is a precedent. If it justified in this situation is highly doubtful and is a bit if balls up by the NRL to have promised it without first seeing if any players had issues with it.

If it something like a allergy issue

Then a doctors certificate will clear them against any law

But if the players cannot produce this - then they will have sit out the early rounds

Awaits the discrimination on religious/ethical beliefs case, I wonder if he has Israel's lawyers number?

The NRL's waiver is not being accepted by that bloke from marketing.

From the article in the tweet

LIVE: Cartwright ‘to be stood down’ as Govt tells NRL — your waiver’s not good enough

Im guessing government thinking is that government staff are social distancing ie: skeleton staff, working from home etc. Criteria a footy field can’t meet.

I think the govt has a good case here for protecting the NRL players and subsequently the rest of the communities' health and safety.

Its simple really.

Make all the players get vaccinated, then if they have flu like symptoms its more than likely the virus.

When the NRL starts again the players are being held to a different set of rules to the rest of the community therefore they should expect to be held to more stringent rules which includes the flu jab.

The waiver was putting people a risk and no doubt V'Landys worried about the Izzy situation applying to the NRL, hence the waiver, but ScoMo has taken that out of the equation now.
