News Coronavirus and NRL

I love how the naysayers and doom mongers are "oh it effects my team badly" "oh there are no cases of COVID in my State/Territory so why should my team have to move" etc etc. What a load of horse manure. The virus does not give a stiff, it doesn't recognise borders. Also, just cause there are no cases now does not mean there won't be any in the foreseeable future. This is all about risk management, and minimising it so the comp continues.

If you want everyone to stay where they are, do you really think one of the numbskulls who play our code wouldn't catch it by going somewhere they shouldn't and becoming a close contact with someone who's infectious? If so I have a nice house to s4ell you down on Sydney Harbour with a big white roof 🙄

We have to play home games at Campbelltown in 2020 despite the ACT being Covid-free.

We have to play home games at the Gold Coast in 2021 despite the ACT being Covid-free.

It makes absolutely no f**king sense. f**k the NRL, the stupid f**ks.
Canberra should remain at home for this round. Cronulla could just fly in & out game day from SEQ, as has been already happening.

Canberra then travel and stay in SEQ for their next 2 games. Both away to NSW teams.

Challenging part is after that. If Victoria is closed to the ACT still and they can't get an exemption. Canberra's home game against the Dragons is moved to SEQ, Canberra then travel to Melbourne to play the Storm and following that return to Canberra. If the ACT stays covid free.

If cases come to Canberra, Raiders stay in Queensland.

The reason the Raiders were moved was that some State Governments (e.g. Victoria) have declared that no one from the ACT may enter its state without doing a 14 day isolation upon arrival.

So again, sure leave the Raiders in the ACT. When they then can't get a travel exemption to those states, and games get cancelled as a consequence, and the games finances fall in a hole as a result, then you can show what "geniuses" you are.

Well that is the fault of the Victorian government for unreasonably closing the border to the ACT. The ACT's current streak of no local cases is longer than VIC, NSW and QLD are ever likely to get to.

Raiders fans have a point here and should be able to play their games at home where the local government has minimal restrictions and allows 100% stadium capacity.

If the Victorian government won't allow raiders players to FIFO from Canberra (which I doubt) then that game needs to be relocated.

Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia all have bans on people from the ACT entering. Also if so much as one case happens there, what odds the QLD Government does similar and slaps a ban on them too?

It is no point saying the Raiders should get to stay there if the state governments deny the Raiders entry. Further if the other teams then go to the ACT, there is no guarantee they would be allowed back to the state they came from.

This is not about what is morally right or wrong. This is about dealing with established facts and also on the behaviours various state governments have exhibited since the pandemic commenced, and working accordingly. You are just ignoring practical realities which I think is just plain daft.

The Sydney and NSW Lockdown will last post the NRL finals. There will be no more games played in NSW for the rest of the year. Get used to it brothers and sisters.

Small mercies these days is all WE have.

“From all the moans and groans I heard during the spilt rounds about the lack of games to watch, I thought everyone would be happy and thankful that the footy will continue”

Absolutely,

If only there was a modicum of fairness and redress when the restrictions come off. It seems that kindness only flows one way.

As we all know Covid has impacted on all of us at many levels. The one constant is the unpredictability of our current and future lifestyles. Thank God we still have NRL to enjoy and whinge about.

Canberra would’ve been the perfect place to host the entire NRL. Less temptations for the the players to break bubble protocols unless we think some will sneak out to visit a science museum or a parliamentary sitting.
There’s plenty of other things as well.
1. guided tour with Big Papa who will then down a six pack, ring 000 on himself. You get to watch him get arrested.
2. A night out with Curtis Scott finishing up with ring side seats at Kokomos.
3. I also hear Skeepe will for 20 bucks show you the route that the cops got into a car chase with Todd Carney.
4. Any NRL player who likes to hang out with bikies then Canberra’s your town. Most OLMCG have set up shop in a big way down there.
The Goldies got nothing on the ACT.
