Gotcha. So you must have taken TheDMCs advice and took some lessons to brush up on how they work.I was using an analogy...

As for the NRL relationship with international footy, this hasn’t changed in the past 40 years. The NRL and the Clubs are concerned about those things that make them money, hence the over long season and SOO. Internationals are an interference to that, hence no ANZAC Day Tests any more and especially now players want more time off post season.
How will Australia get square for this week’s announcement that the World Cup is going ahead whether Australia go or not?
The question is complicated by the fact the now-IRL is dominated by Australia, with Wayne Pearce and Peter Beattie on it. How did they vote on the World Cup issue? In any case the international game is showing some bravado.
As much as I hate to say this on Challenge Cup final week, the British game is a mess with TV rights just about halved and teams not fulfilling fixtures (that’s aside from official Covid-related cancellations and postponements).
The sport can’t afford to put players in bubbles and games get called off because of cases and contact positives every week. And now the NRL is spending too much money to be the knight it may otherwise have been. It can lend expertise but not investment – and the English don’t seem to want to help themselves.
English RL Superlegue has been on its knees financially for decades. Clubs regularly tottered on the brink of bankruptcy. When you are that cash strapped, you often make sub-optimal decisions which is what the Poms have done. They have tried to keep going but have had so many games cancelled due to Covid that the only way to keep the competition going was to change the table ranking to an average win:loss basis. So weaker teams faced with a certain loss and probably negative income from a match weren’t overly keen on playing (try telling me that NRL clubs wouldn’t do the same).
The decision to go ahead with the World Cup isn’t so stupid when you consider that not doing so would likely finish English Rugby League.
A poor man often makes desperate decisions.
I damn well hope not. One Perth Red is one too many. Are you Perth Reds brother?
The effort to always find the negative seem very similar.
No worriesThanks for advise ....I'll keep that in the back of my brain son....
If that happens it will be the 8th time in a row these sides have met at Lang Park. Panthers should at least get something from the gate, because this will draw well if full crowds are allowed.
I think all "home" teams still own the gate don't they?If that happens it will be the 8th time in a row these sides have met at Lang Park. Panthers should at least get something from the gate, because this will draw well if full crowds are allowed.
I believe Penrith will get the gate takings while the NRL covers the suncorp hire fee. I understand Penrith fans have the right to be dissapointed that they don’t get their home game (due to a pandemic) however they should be happy that their club is drawn against the broncos this period. If that happens it will be the 8th time in a row these sides have met at Lang Park. Panthers should at least get something from the gate, because this will draw well if full crowds are allowed.
So what would you consider to be appropriate subject matter old mate? Are we really talking about "unfairness" of gate takings whilst 11M people are in lockdown?
Surely the fact that the game is going ahead at all is something to celebrate? So what would you consider to be appropriate subject matter old mate?
Right..God shut the f**k up would you? This is about COVID impact on the NRL, not a politcal bitchfest. I'm sick to death of it
Right..
If the nsw govt locked down earlier maybe the whole comp wouldn't have had to move to QLD and you wouldn't have Penrith fans whinging about the storm having an advantage.
OK now it's confirmed to be at Suncorp. I'm pissed but not surprised, the NRL scheduling is a farce and I have zero respect for it. Hopefully we can thrash them to soften the blow but we're no sure thing with Burton and May, considering we only just beat them at up there with Luai and Cleary.
On one hand, it’s great that the game continues. On the other, it’s V’landys ball. The cruelty of a pandemic knows no bounds.Surely the fact that the game is going ahead at all is something to celebrate?
Also f**k penrith.
Be glad you have still have a sport to watch merkins.
Agree, call the comp off.
Then you go back to watching the Storm win the '99 grand final on VHS like the good little fan boy that you are
Thank your lucky stars Penrith will even have the opportunity to finish the season off, it's QLD's fault your state is going through the worst of it, right? This is some manipulation thing out to see to it that Penrith can't get it done, right? Never mind the growing numbers in NSW as a result of a global pandemic, this is a Penrith vs the world thing
I'm glad that Broncos and Titans are bad. Otherwise giving them a home game every week would practically be gifting them a win every week.
