We have adopted NZs 14 day isolation on all travellers. That is a good move.

Though Morrison says he has been chatting to Boris Johnson on this, which is a little scary given the UK is boldly going it alone in their approach. We should watch the UK carefully and see how they go.

I'm also worried that a lot of Morrison's replies are that things are up to the individual states. We probably don't have options there given our government set up, but if the bushfires and this pandemic show us anything, it is that we need more coordinated responses across the country to big issues.

No school closures yet. I didn't think there would be. A week ago my prediction was school closures just before the Easter holidays. A few days ago I thought it would be in two weeks. Now I think it will be before the end of this week. Maybe senior classes can go on a little longer.

Morrison discussing a metre and a half social distancing and how schools will work that out is a farce.

How will kids get into class rooms, out of class rooms, use the canteen, and fit in class rooms with a metre and a half distance? It can't happen. That sort of social distancing won't start until schools are shut.

And offices. Same problem, at least get half of all employees wfh

A little maths for our PM, saying schools can work out how to keep students 1.5 metres apart.

A 1.5 m radius is an area of about 7 metres squared.

An average class room is about 6 m by 6 m, or 36 metres squared. That means each class room can fit about 5 people, including the teacher, evenly spaced through the room. Classes are about 28 students on average, with some at 30.

I suppose with some squashed along the walls we could get maybe 10 in the class.

Where are the other 18 students in each class meant to sit?

It’s a matter of time until schools and offices are closed. May as well rip the bandaid off and do it now. Don’t see the point of screwing around for a few more days like they did with footy crowds

already beginning to plateau in a number of countries.
View attachment 36800

Read a really interesting observation the other day. Many of the countries where it has plateaued are those that have previously gone through SARS in the early 2000s.

Those countries as a result have learned from the experience and are better prepared.

We havent gone through this before and i daresay it will be a shock if stringent measures aren't in place. I went for a COVID19 test on Friday and it shocked me how underprepared we are for this. Not many facilities are up for testing yet.

NRL ONLY DELAYING THE INEVITABLE

Speaking on Channel 9’s Sports Sunday, former Wallaby turned journalist Peter FitzSimons claimed cancellation of NRL fixtures is a “certainty” when considering the virus’ exponential growth.

“Read my lips — it’s not a possibility, it is a certainty,” FitzSimons said.

“The way it’s working around the world is the number of people affected is doubling every five or six days. That’s where we’re heading.

“They (the NRL) are working their patch, and good luck to them. But when he (V’landys) says, ‘We’re minimising our risk’, that is simply not true. Minimising the risk is stopping the game. That is just the simple reality.

“When they put their hand up for money from the government, they’re working their patch. Good luck to them.

“They’re a business. What’s going to be crushed early is small business in this country.”https://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/s...n/news-story/d19c7c6c15c08862a72fce9ae4f9ec88

He is right about the issue with the health department once schools are closed though! How does the health system cope if schools are closed?

Apparently there is plenty of planning already done and plenty more going on now including a mobile testing plan.

Not forgetting the Federal Gov has to consult with and plan for all of this with the States.

I do wonder about the actual capacity of facilities and supplies though. All the supplies don't just appear out of thin air. We (probably) can't make them here and there is massive international demand.

Really going out on a limb there, knob(not you @Foreign Legion)

Has he got CTE so bad that he doesn't think the NRL are aware of everything he said?
