Keep up the good fight?
So you are fine with our clubs name being dragged through the mud by this journalist?
I am not sticking up for the CEO in any way here but i can't see the clubs name being plastered through the papers in this way being positive regardless of the outcome of it all. Do you think sponsors, would be recruits, possible new members would be happy to see it?

It's up to the Chairman to be decisive. He needs to nip this in the bud today, call a press conference and either refute all allegations or sack his CEO.

I don't see how he can sack him now when it appears he abstained from voting and the majority of the rest of the board have supported him. So far we only know of one board member who thought he should of been sacked and he isn't on the board anymore. How can the Chairman over rule the majority of the board he Chairs, especially when he has stated that he has removed himself from deciding our CEO's future ?

Personally I would like some clarity on the precise nature of these allegations. There still don't seem to be any specific details, but like many others I would certainly like to know what they are.

Last week he said:

As to mr osborne's future with the club, mr spagnolo said: ''he will be with the club.''

The thing with these articles is that they're all loose lipped gossip based on speculation about a problem.
The ONE fact they keep coming back to is the $35k on the business card AND the personal loan from Spagnolo to Osbourne.

That fact is certainly worrying - but can we focus on THAT and find out what is going on there please!?!
[if it's even a problem? Was he given permission to spend the money? we don't know any of this - but I'd like to find out!]

Perhaps sacking him is premature, but Spags needs to front the media and show leadership to the members and sponsors.

I don't have any allegiance whatsoever towards anyone on past of previous boards. All i want is the club to be run professionally and without constant negative headlines.
If Osborne isn't doing his job then get rid of him, if he is then don't.
I just can't see how anyone can be happy about articles like these last few about our club. All the people that were laughing at Manly 2 weeks ago who were going through a similar thing, how does it feel when it's us? which over the last few years it all too often is.

Agreed that negative press is the last thing we need, at a time that we are about to launch our Membership drive.

Spags needs to fix it by hosing down the rumours and either backing his CEO or make him walk the plank.

So if the chairman comes out and says "The Board is right behind Ozzie, etc"

You think that will be the end of it?

No he needs to deal with all the allegations and allow the press to question him. If this is a storm in a tea cup, he has nothing to worry about.

I don't think he'll be saying too much right now, especially when his own name has been mentioned in the alleged ongoings.

You're right. He puts on a big friendly act for the media but when you actually speak to him he comes across as an arrogant tosser.

Yeah many people who have had any personal interaction with him would agree with you. Lets just say that my one and only personal interaction with him wasn't what you would expect from a club CEO to a group of loyal fans. You would think the people who help pay his wages would deserve some acknowledgement and respect!

How many Chairmans of a rugby League (Nrl) have come out to the media did the sharks chairman do the same thing for Tony Zappia ? Did the Bulldogs chairman do the same thing for Steve Mortimer ? How many times in 20 plus years did Alan Overton come out for fitzy in the media ?

Spagnolo said from day one that it was a personal matter regarding the money he owes and when asked about Osborne's future he said "he will be with the club". That sounds like a backing to me, if not by him personally, then at least by the majority of the board.
Since the majority of the board have backed Osborne, he has either done nothing wrong to the degree that he deserves to be fired or they feel he is valuable enough to their future plans that they are prepared to run the risk and turn a blind eye. If it is the later and it is something serious they are all covering up, then they should all walk the plank.
The facts for now are that no charges have been laid and even if if they are forthcoming everyone is innocent until proven guilty. For now we can't make anyone walk the plank based on vague speculation and a few accusations with no specific source named.

there have been no charges laid for anything over the last few years, so this is no different.

The board need to seen to be acting in an unbiased manner, so the best thing would be to call in the investigator again to see what is uncovered.

I wonder if there will be a report added to the leagues club site explaining the recent settlement negotiations.
