The board was told that, apart from Mr Osborne having to repay $35,000 in personal expenses he accrued on his club credit card, he had been slow in repaying $9000 in cash collected from the sale of football jerseys in December 2009.
So he collected the cash from the merchandise van or maybe the B&G Army shop and kept it as his own until he repaid it ? WTF ?!?!

It doesn't sound good. But I'd like to see what all the real facts are.

So true.

Once again it sounds like a 'fishing expedition' as an article.

"ummm - Ozzy was investigated for fraud while a member of parliament" - trying to make it sound like it was a parliamentary issue. Oops - turns out it was an accusation by a builder who claimed that Ozzy stole one of his cheques and forged his signature. Claims which were flushed down the toilet by the police.
Oh - but Ozzy used to be a police officer, and was in 'daily contact' with the investigating officer (how long did this investigation take? 2 days? Did Ozzy speak to the guy on the first and last day of the investigation?)

That part of the article is a bunch of trumped up hogwash - using something that somebody was accused of, and yet innocent, to try and set up what comes next.

And what comes next is something about lending a player money? Even though the opening sentence tries to imply that Ozzy owed that player money.

The sale of jersey thing: $9k was collected in December 2009 and 'cashed in' March 2009. From the highly speculative notions put forth in the article so far, we might fairly assume late december and early March --> so a 2.5 month lag, which included peak holiday time.
I've no idea what the heck Ozzy was doing flogging jerseys off anyway? No idea how he got his hands on the $9k - but for a distributor of a company's product to return their profits 2.5 months later would be a fairly normal mode of operations surely?

The only 'damning' thing in this article is the same base fact as the original article raised: $35k in personal expenses on company card and the loan from Spags. That just sounds dicey!

Oh the plot thickens. Give us the facts, if it smells like sh*t, it's sh*t, then he has to go.

Nothing to see here?

i really don't get the
was promised a lucrative deal to join the club in recent years
part.
If he signed for a lucrative deal in recent years, i.e Justin Poore, why word it like that. She is making it sound as though he was promised x amount on his contract and given y or we are trying to do a storm. It's sensationalism at it's worst.

I know two people who have been the subject of separate articles by this journalist.

I also know all of the people who were used as sources.

The sources used were of very low credibility with top shelf grudges against the subjects of the article.

She specialises in the shock front page expose - but has anything ever come of any of her investigations?

I guess we'll see what happens but I don't see that the latest article affects my position much except to conclude that she is reaching a bit.

She exposed the entire Bulldogs/Oasis/Salary Cap saga IIRC.

I don't believe a word of it! Our chairman and CEO are just two fine upstanding citizens.

Seriously though, Osborne is an egomaniac of the highest order. His arrogance and disregard for honesty and integrity has been well known since he began the role. As for the story about the relationship with the girl at the club.... that's old news.

In any normal business Osborne would have been long gone by now, but he's tight with the one person who he needs to be tight with, and until that bond is broken (keep up the good fight Kate) the rest of us have to live with it.

Keep up the good fight?
So you are fine with our clubs name being dragged through the mud by this journalist?
I am not sticking up for the CEO in any way here but i can't see the clubs name being plastered through the papers in this way being positive regardless of the outcome of it all. Do you think sponsors, would be recruits, possible new members would be happy to see it?

It's up to the Chairman to be decisive. He needs to nip this in the bud today, call a press conference and either refute all allegations or sack his CEO.

Osborne has brought this upon himself. If he operated by the book there would be no story here. I have no sympathy for the man whatsoever.

Don't shoot the messenger.
What are the sposors more worried about? The fact that we are in the paper or the nature of the allegations?
