Do you think the club would sign bird? and more to the point would bird be happy to come back to the club?

I think after the time the club spent putting into Bird both on and off the field they would probably sign him again now that it's in the past.

However i would highly doubt Bird would want to come back to a club that got rid of him.

I thought about this the other day, does anyone remember a player who has been released / sacked in controversial circumstances and then actually gone back to that club? I can't remember any in the modern era.

If Bird comes back to Sydney, I think he will play for Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs and not the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks.

Bennett usually gets it right with frontrowers. Poore was off contract and wanted an up grade. Parra offered him $375 000 a year for 4 years. The Dragons offered him $275 000 so he left. Where is he today? Should be interesting to see how Bennett reacts to the big money offered to Snowden by Tinkler. Let him go, push Gallen into the frontrow and sign exCronulla junior Bosden. He's off contract and Cronulla would get him cheap. He looks like a very good player.

last titans game someone had a masive bring back birdy sign.
He would have liked that.
Last home game for 2010 it was...my first live victory for the year.

also, hasn't there been a regime change since he left.

Houston is probably the best example.

Some of those others were not really big 'controversial' moments. Sure the players didn't really leave on perfect terms, but nothing like Tandy / Bird etc

reefy - just on your last post regarding a points system - fair enough mate... i simply have my reservations about finding a workable solution under a points cap. you may well be right that while it may still be flawed, probably less flawed than the current setup.
