At ten minutes past ten in five days time cronulla supporters around the world will raise a glass in celebration of their clubs success.

Rufus Rex, do you have low self esteem? Were you the subject of bullying and harassment while you were at school? Or is it a case that you have small p*nis envy? Look, I don't know what your issues are, but I am sure that there are medical experts that can assist you with your problem. Maybe a bit of Sharks bashing is part of your therapy to help you through your issues? I don't know. But, I do know that having fun at the sake of Sharks supporters is old, so why don't you find some new material?

I think we all know that's their only long term option, I was thinking more like 2-3 years down the line when they face the facts. But if it's happening before then it will be better for them. Better for the NRL. Better for the other Sydney clubs. Bring on the Perth/Adelaide Sharks. That's a positive outcome for the league and the club, the alternative is to eventually fold when the banks get impatient. If that happens noone wins.

BunniesMan, as a Sharks supporter, I don't need your input into what is in the bests interests of the team that I support. Your mention of timeframes, what's in the clubs best interests, what's in the NRL's best interests, etc, well, you really have no credibility at all when it comes to talking about such things. It was only 10 years ago that your team was kicked out of the NRL. How did you feel then? Not very good I suspect. I wonder if you were extolling the virtues of club (specifically your club) relocations then? No. I didn't think so. No, how quickly you forget. Midnight Oil penned a song a few years ago about people like you. It was called Short Memory. You should listen to it sometime and be appreciative of the fact that you have a side in the NRL to support.

1. I didn't say you did need my input, that's not going to stop me from giving my opinion, if you don't like it feel free to scroll down past my opinion and erase it from your memory.

2. That's why I want the Sharks to relocate. The last thing I want is for them to fold. There are people I've heard who said they want that to happen. I wouldn't wish what happened to my team on anyone.

That's why I say relocation is the best option for everyone involved. The Sharks get to be a one city team in a developing market, with all the NRL support that comes with it. They get to keep the brand name alive and get a chance at setting up a sustainable and healthy long term future and Sydney based Sharks fans still get to see their team on tv and everytime they play an away game verse a Sydney team (Probably 5+ times a year).

BunniesMan, thankyou for clarifying certain aspects of your posting. I have a clearer picture now of what underpinned your original comments. I realise now with your clarification that you weren't out for some 'Sharks bashing'. Having said that, I would see your way forward for the Sharks as outlined above in the catergory of options of last resort. There are strategies that the club are exploring now to ensure the long term survival of the club in the Cronulla-Sutherland area (development of land east of the Sharks Leagues Club, potential merger arrangements between the Leagues Club and other licensed clubs in the Cronulla-Sutherland area) I believe that these options need to be explored before any decision to relocate is made. As a Sharks supporter, I would like to see the Sharks stay in the Cronulla-Sutherland area. However, if it gets to the stage where other options need to be looked at (including relocation, as outlined in your post) then it will be up to the members to make that decision. I guess Souths Members were faced with the same decision making when Peter Holmes a'Court and Russell Crowe put in a bid to buy the team?

And we nearly shot ourselves in the foot when we made the decision. The vote only just passed. A few votes less and we might have been facing extinction by now. We almost let pride get in the way of making the right decision for the club.

As for the Sharks, relocation and exploring other options. Yes, relocation isn't something that's done lightly. It is a major decision. And other realistic options should be explored. While I'm not an expert on the specific details of the Sharks situation, I have heard some people describe some of these other options as "pipe dreams". If the Sharks are trying to pull off a pipe dream rather than relocate it might just mean they're getting in more debt and have a deeper hole to pull themselves out of if and when they do decide to relocate.

Foldy mc fold fold.

Bunniesman is right. Clubs have to make hard decisions for their long term future. Look at the Dragons and Tigers today. Auckland Rabbitohs and Manly privatising...

If the Sharks are unwilling to make the hard decisions to ensure their long term future, they have no one to blame if they eventually go belly up. Bailed out how many times now? Took the $12m on offer from super league, thats gone and they are going back into debt again.

Relocate, merge, privatise or face extinction. Don't expect any sympathy if you do nothing.

And whatever you do Sharkies do it quick. Because there's plenty of bids wanting to come into the league. If we lose the sharks we can bring in 3 teams. Ccbears, wareds and south qld/Ipswich/centralqld. We lose 16k sharks fans and we get close to 200,000 new fans from the 3 areas combined. I still think rebranding themselves the southern sharks and playing 4 games in Adelaide, 2 in Wellington and 5 at shark park is their best option.

If the Sharkies have a bit of Success things will improve , they have been in a position where they couldnt win to be honest , they need results to succeed but have been unlucky with events that have been uncontrollable.

The Bird and Seymour incidents were a no win situation for the club . If those Two were still at the club (maybe not so much Seymour) their results would be so much better but if they stayed there was a good chance of losing crucial sponsorship dollars and risk the club going under.

I have a soft spot for the Sharks , use to love watching them playing their attacking footy when Caltex field use to be a Sat night fortress and it was a fortnightly event.
