A bit of talk doing the rounds that Cronulla Sharks will be no more... They'll take 14 million and move interstate.
can we get biker on board for the 2nd bus?And we already have our very own bus driver .... hey redders.
Cheers
Quigs
Sauce?
Better be South not West!
They'll have to rent an entire bus to fit all their fans. Can they even afford that?
At ten minutes past ten in five days time cronulla supporters around the world will raise a glass in celebration of their clubs success.
I think we all know that's their only long term option, I was thinking more like 2-3 years down the line when they face the facts. But if it's happening before then it will be better for them. Better for the NRL. Better for the other Sydney clubs. Bring on the Perth/Adelaide Sharks. That's a positive outcome for the league and the club, the alternative is to eventually fold when the banks get impatient. If that happens noone wins.
BunniesMan, as a Sharks supporter, I don't need your input into what is in the bests interests of the team that I support. Your mention of timeframes, what's in the clubs best interests, what's in the NRL's best interests, etc, well, you really have no credibility at all when it comes to talking about such things. It was only 10 years ago that your team was kicked out of the NRL. How did you feel then? Not very good I suspect. I wonder if you were extolling the virtues of club (specifically your club) relocations then? No. I didn't think so. No, how quickly you forget. Midnight Oil penned a song a few years ago about people like you. It was called Short Memory. You should listen to it sometime and be appreciative of the fact that you have a side in the NRL to support.
1. I didn't say you did need my input, that's not going to stop me from giving my opinion, if you don't like it feel free to scroll down past my opinion and erase it from your memory.
2. That's why I want the Sharks to relocate. The last thing I want is for them to fold. There are people I've heard who said they want that to happen. I wouldn't wish what happened to my team on anyone.
That's why I say relocation is the best option for everyone involved. The Sharks get to be a one city team in a developing market, with all the NRL support that comes with it. They get to keep the brand name alive and get a chance at setting up a sustainable and healthy long term future and Sydney based Sharks fans still get to see their team on tv and everytime they play an away game verse a Sydney team (Probably 5+ times a year).
BunniesMan, thankyou for clarifying certain aspects of your posting. I have a clearer picture now of what underpinned your original comments. I realise now with your clarification that you weren't out for some 'Sharks bashing'. Having said that, I would see your way forward for the Sharks as outlined above in the catergory of options of last resort. There are strategies that the club are exploring now to ensure the long term survival of the club in the Cronulla-Sutherland area (development of land east of the Sharks Leagues Club, potential merger arrangements between the Leagues Club and other licensed clubs in the Cronulla-Sutherland area) I believe that these options need to be explored before any decision to relocate is made. As a Sharks supporter, I would like to see the Sharks stay in the Cronulla-Sutherland area. However, if it gets to the stage where other options need to be looked at (including relocation, as outlined in your post) then it will be up to the members to make that decision. I guess Souths Members were faced with the same decision making when Peter Holmes a'Court and Russell Crowe put in a bid to buy the team?
