You'll find that most people on this forum don't worry about small irritations stopping them from going to games.Stop using the smallest irritation as an excuse for not going to the game.
The problem with irritations (such as weather, certain players not playing etc), is that families in particular, one of the biggest markets in the game, are likely to be put off by the cold, or the wet, or if Lockyer isn't playing, or any range of things. That's why crowds drop - the core fans still attend - while the general fans who might come now and again generally drop off. Unfortunate, but a fact of life.
