While we're making excuses for crowds, the Parra vs Cowboys game was on the same day as the Golden Slipper. The biggest race in NSW, 2nd in the country....

I was just adding some info for background...not so much making excuses...I was dissappointed that we didn't fill every seat in the joint on Sunday!

I joked to one of the others I went to the game with - "I wonder if some people are waiting for Uncle Tinky's cheap prices to kick in before they actually turn up to games"

lol c'mon Tezza. What does working across the road from Rosehill have to do with anything? The Slipper is the best 2yo race in the land for sure but it has nothing on the Caulfield Cup or the Cox Plate. I also doubt it had any bearing on the Eels v Cows game crowd wise.

Just on the crowds, we're more than likely going to get another record overall crowdwise this season which is brilliant. But a small few around here have really gotta stop being precious little girls and whingeing whenever someone dares bag a sh*t crowd. We're gonna get them occasionally just like every sport does so if it's fair enough to point out good crowds it's every bit as fair and valid to point out an average one without someone cracking the sooks.

Yeah I know, I figure the horse racing was a good excuse for Canberra fans, so for us too.

There has definitely been a lack of articles in the Telegraph promoting the Dragons v Dogs blockbuster this week. They have been too obsessed about this Origin Eligibility thing and have forgot about some Heritage Round stories to get some interest going. Hopefully we see more tomorrow.

Yes i do realise there has been advertising in the Paper about the game though.

Must be the same reason as Parramatta fans given the comparable crowd?

Melbourne vs Bulldogs was a blockbuster vs a previously undefeated team and got 11,000 (albeit a Monday night game might have kept the crowd down a couple of thousand).

Whilst not a great crowd, Parramatta vs Cowboys got 11,000 and was a ho-hum game and is one of the least-appealling Parramatta home games. This is a game Parra should play in Adelaide or Darwin or somewhere. If that is Parra's worst crowd of the year then we should be happy.

Aren't parra contracted to 10 games at Parra stadium for a few years? Although if they did move a game i would rather it be the dragons game to ANZ, that would be another crowd puller on top of the souths/bulldogs games there.

Rubbish, that was a good game, regardless of the result.

Yes we are and contracted to two at ANZ, how ever the Parramatta Stadium trust are pretty flexible so long as they're compensated which we don't really have the resources to do unless we have a pretty good guarantee that we will make money by moving the match.

Aren't they pretty much locked in to those 2 ANZ games being v Souths and Canterbury so they reciprocal member rights deal can remain in place?

I think you're missing the point I was trying to make. I agree it was a sensational game - but we onty found that out afterwards. Before kick-off, a Parramatta vs Cowboys game is hardly one of Parramatta's most appealing home games in sofar as what type of crowd it would draw before the game.

Yup. Id like to see us take a game there against Saints and maybe the Tigers. But seeing as neither club use the stadium anymore, I can understand why not.
