Thing is the Swans will get a bigger crowd if Souths fail and that will not look got on Rugby League esp with the TV deal.

And if we win, we and the Dogs will outdraw comfortably what the Swans get even against Collington.

Should have played it at a packed Brookvale or on the Central Coast.
The NRL and it's TV pay masters will have to learn that empty seats in the grounds on TV will make uncomfortable viewing and will cause alot of fans to switch off.
No more friday games.

So what you got the dosh but the image of the game is shit at the mo.

Sea eagles fans standing on the hill at brookvale? Now that's uncomfortable viewing for a final. Kick them out of the competition.

Terrible crowd last night, although playing it on a Friday night instead of Saturday night wouldn't of helped. It's pretty much hell trying to travel from the Northern Beaches to the city in peak hour on a Friday night (no railway line).

What does everyone think of maybe playing Manly's home finals in week 1 and week 2 at Gosford? They would get a packed house there though the Bears fans wouldn't be happy about that.

If they were thrown out of the competition it looks like only about 13000 people would care. With consolidation/expansion a single team on the north shore and central coast must be a viable option.

It strikes me as odd that fhe crowds at finals are now seen as partisan -e.g. yesterday's crowd is blamed on a poor turnout of Manly supporters.

I do think that the NRL should hype these games up more to attract more neutrals (advertising campaigns like the dragons/parra game should be standard for finals).

However that doesn't excuse the fact that manly can only bring 16,000 fans to a knock out finals game (and lets face it they weren't all manly fans either).

If a Sydney team is playing at SFS or ANZ in Week 3 they should be drawing closer to 40k - otherwise something is amiss.

Some of the finals crowds have been lackluster in recent years.

Second lowest crowd to a 2nd week final since 1999 (lowest being Canberra vs Easts in 2000 which drew 16411). Disgraceful effort from Manly fans.

How many of those years have had the games played on Friday? Most used to be Saturday/Sunday. You're comparing apples with oranges.

That should of happened.

Ok, look at the Dragons v Manly game. Would have been close to a 50/50 split which is 15,000 each. Manly had about 16,000 at the game last night and you want to sook that it's pathetic in comparison. There would have been far fewer Cowboys fans at the game last night than any of the other away teams besides maybe the titans. It's no secret that Parra have one of the biggest (bandwagon) fanbases in the game and the Tigpies enjoy support from 2 different fanbases. Why would it surprise anyone that these clubs outdraw Manly either at home or away?
