I don't think Timmah is all there. It's not that hard to understand the term "proportionally"...

For f**k sake you guys are a bunch of women on here...

Does it matter?

Cowboys proportionally have better crowds than the rest of the competition. However, their crowds are down which is not good especially given that their form is no worse than last years and a lot better than in 2010.

OK? Done...

Issue's over for mine. Can we just bag QLD for the sake of it? :D

Or Souths, I could bag them again, see how that goes down?

Proportions and percentages don't pay the bills! I'd take 30,000 over 14,000 regardless of the potential population any day of the week!

It's not about comparing supporter bases. It's about comparing how many people attend league relative to the number of people living in that city. It's straight numbers.there is no arguing about it. Proportionally More people in Townsville attend than Sydney.

Townsville has 14,000 per fortnight from 172,000 (8%)

You are assuming that all the Cowboys supporters come just from Townsville.

I have heard a number of times over the years that the Cowboys draw fans from all over North Queensland. I suppose that's why they are called North Queensland and not Townsville.

What is the population of Nth Qld?

No stat is perfect. There will always be confounders. So yes, people outside of Townsville could artificially boost their %

But Sydney's crowds would also be boosted by people from the central coast, blue mountains, Illawarra etc. sydney's crowds are also boosted by the fact fans can attend multiple times a week...in Nth QLD an average of 14,000 means 14,000 unique visitors. In Sydney, 138,000 per fortnight is probably 100,000 people, with many going every week or attending as neutrals.

The stat is what it is. It does give an indictation though that Nth QLD does remarkably well for a relatively smaller region

I'm currently at the tigers vs dogs game and there is already more atmosphere here than the easts vs dogs game a month ago or so.. Plenty of bulldog fans here

There's barely 20k there.

Serves them right for playing Wests v Canterbury in the Eastern Suburbs. :)

Disappointing crowd. Everyone has a go at us for playing at ANZ but what is the f**king logic of a team from Campbelltown and Balmain and a team from Canterbury playing in Moore Park.

This would have got 40k+ easily in Homebush.

with how good these two teams are playing, both in the top 8 and both exciting teams, they should be getting 30,000 minimum on a friday night. This game should of been played at homebush. Im not bagging the clubs fans I just think in general crowds have been terrible and the league really need to find ways to bring the crowds in.

lol no it wouldnt
FFS most of both fanbases will have to get multiple trains and/or buses to get to Moore Park. If you think more people wouldn't have gone to Homebush you have rocks in your head.

This is a disappointing crowd for 2 big Sydney teams who are both going well.

Souths v Dogs got a lot more.

Where did I say that? I said it wouldn't have got 40k, especially after one of the best games of footy ever was on 2 nights ago.
