Sydney is a horses ass to get around in general (the geography whilst attractive to the eye makes for a lord of the rings like experience when trying to get to Brooky) but generally fans are content with sittin at home and watching on the telly.

Getting to a football match in Sydney is a bloody nightmare compared with Melbourne. That is a simple fact.

Is it really that hard to get from Manly to SFS, Parra to ANZ or Penrith to Campbelltown? Or is the reality fans just don't travel generally?

Manly to the SFS is very hard , the only public transport is buses and these would mostly go down Military road which is a nightmare. Also going across the harbour is a phsycological barrier for a lot of people.

The Ferry will only get them to circular quay as well. Public transport for that area is almost as bad as the north west.

Someone on the crowd thread said they were shocked at the small crowd at Campbelltown for Tigers vs Panthers - two local teams. The drive from Penrith to Campbelltown is about 45 mins on a crappy single lane road but unless things have changed since I was there the only public transport would be by train. 30 mins from Penrith to Strathfield and 30 mins then to Campbelltown. Of course the trains are few and not co- ordinated for such a trip. I think it would be a minimum of 4 hours travel time all up.

yeah they may be 'local' in the geography sense that both areas are near each other but Penrith to Cambo is at least 35-45 mins drive away from each other. And let's face it, the crowds aren't exactly going to flock to the game seeing as though both teams have been playing like Ian Roberts acting career.........

Where is the GWS crowd watch - put that game on to check the crowd and deadset the crowd would be 5k AT MOST

Upper tier completely empty, each bay at 15% capacity....

They'll post 10k but really 4-5k... have a look, funny

This is where we really have the edge on expansion. A Perth team will draw 15k to start with, Melbourne drew 10k, Adelaide would draw around 10k, hell even a Darwin team would beat the GWS crowds! It's why it won't cost us $200mill to grow the game if we ever decide we are going to.

Onto actual rugby league crowds, looks about 8500 in Canberra.

When Perth is bottom 4 it won't draw 15k.

That's alright we won't be bottom 4 ;)

Besides I am not so sure. Force have managed to keep a 15k+ avg despite being dire for years. Comes down to how well the club is maketed at the end of the day.

Anything to do with the demographic make up of Perth?

ye that as well, we have so many East coasters moving and living here that there is a strong core of died on the wool RL fans here to provide that hardcore support. Same as the Sth Africans and Kiwis who make up the Force's hardcore support.

Going to NRL games in Perth is like a world convention of RL fans there are so many different club jerseys from all over on show.

Agree about potential NRL team.

I get the sense that Western Force (Saffer, Kiwi, Brit) and Perth Glory (Mediterranean Descendant, Brit) rely way too much on their support from minorities. Nothing wrong with that, but it shows the difficulties faced.
