He's a dickhead union troll who shows up and comments in the same threads all the time.

I'll never forget the time he tried to argue that back at it's peak, club rugby union crowds in sydney were bigger than the rugby league crowds. lol
Wrong i said was Randwick bigger then the Roosters in the 1980's as they had some good players like Ella etc and the Roosters crowds were very low back then(anything between 2000-10000) and i just thought Randwick might of pulled crowds of 5000 back then.
I asked the question because i didn't know the answer.

The stadard by which NRL attendances should be judged is not AFL or Union or grodiron or soccer or whatever but it in fact the NRL in previous seasons.

The aim should be to boost the average to 20,000. That is realistic and if we achieve that I care less wht the EPL or MLB or AFL get.

Cheap tickets and a friendly atmosphere with nice stewarding alongside big event media.

5000 is a good crowd for a club Union game in the early 80's but if you hate Union how do you know this.

I read things
I do put un like Rugby League stats there are no Australian Rugby Union stats be it international/State and Shute thingy.
So back in the day should of the Roosters played at a smaller ground then the SSG/SCG /Newtown and the SFS as Randwicks ground holded 10000.
Mate not being an ass just asking.

Back in the day they did play at smaller ground. It was called the sports ground.

The roosters had the potential for 20,000 crowds hence the need for a bigger ground compared to the 5k max randwick yawnion team.

Didn't Randwick play at Coogee Oval - In the late 70s it wasn't even an enclosed ground. They used to put up hessian curtains to stop freeloaders looking at their games from the street.

34,326 ahead of last year, an average of 350 people per game more have attended this year.

Further to this, there have been 7 sub-10,000 crowds up to round 13 this year. For teh same period last year there were 11, so there is improvement here as well.

NRL needs to work towards the day where sub-10,000 crowds are completely eliminated. Boosting crowd averages does not only result from getting bigger crowds to your high-drawing matches, but also improving the traditionally low-drawing ones as well.

Even more pleasing is that of the 7 sub-10,000 crowds, 5 have been rain effected. The only 2 non-rain effected sub-10,000 crowds have been Penrith vs Melboune at Penrith and Canberra vs Parramatta at Canberra, which both got 9,000-odd.

Sub-10,000 crowds 2012:
Canberra - 3
Penrith - 2
North Queensland - 1
Cronulla - 1

Overall an improvement on past years.

This shows the results of the membership drive. It's amazing that despite being god awful for the last 2 years that the Eels haven't registered a single sub-10K crowd in that time.

With a further push for memberships over the next few years we should be able to get rid of sub-10K crowds completely.
