and thus arrives the inevitable decline of nrl crowds during the SoO period, further compounded by miserable weather

Forecast is also showing rain on wednesday, wonder what sort of impact this will have on the anz crowd, if anything much at all

Teddy Dipshit union boy will no doubt be looking closely for any spare seats.

That is the biggest load of bullshit I've read in a while. Who do they think they're kidding - no more than 6k.

If there are only 6k covered seats then you're probably right but we were struggling to find a a dry seat yesterday. Crowd figure looked about right to me.

Panthers or eels should schedule a game at the Blacktown afl white elephant ground

Looks like no one will use it this year

A sold out game and a ripped up pitch will stick it up GWS

Call it the greater western showdown. Stick it right up the pricks

Why?

We're better off as a code not even acknowledging them. western war bullshit ensures they are constantly in the papers, giving them free promotion. Ignore them and concentrate purely on growing our own game whilst they win about 4 games in the next three years and we wont have to worry about the GWS side in the slightest.

Who was the Ef wit who designed sfs ??

What would it cost to put a roof over the SFS? Surely this would be money better spent than upgrading the suburban grounds?

Take yesterday for example - if there was a roof the crowd would've been at least 15k as everybody would've been dry and warm and the quality of the game would've been much higher.

Probably a shit load. You could knock down SFS and built a new stadium and I don't think the cost would be that much greater. Not being flippant either. Major renovations to existing stadiums can end up costing more than a new stadium.

I really hope that Penrith get sub 5k only so that nospam49 loser on twitter who hides behind futurama cartoons can shut his mouth about the Roosters crowds.

Building a new one would cost about 400 mill

A roof couldn't cost that much

You could build one for a hell of a lot cheaper than that. AAMI Park cost $268 million and Gold Coast for a similar size. Of course you could easily spend $400 million and even more depending on how extravagant you wanted to be but there's no way you'd have to even if you wanted to build one the equivalent size of the SFS.

Alhough i do agree putting a roof on would be much less than a whole new stadium. That said we're a winter sport FFS so it's always going to rain on any given game day and it's all part and parcel of being a winter sport. If we had an all covered stadium, while i think there may be an increase in crowd numbers IMO it would be negligible and certainly wouldn't be anywhere near enough to justify putting a roof on.

Estimated to put one on ANZ for 165mill. SFS you would think be cheaper as the ground is smaller.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/nrl/a-decider-to-raise-the-roof/story-e6frfgbo-1226320692382

ANZ was built with the possibility of extending the current roof structure over the entire arena. The SFS was not. With the SFS the whole roof structure would need to be reconfigured and rebuilt, this would be much more than the $165M for the ANZ roof extension.

The roof structure would also need to be like Forsyth Barr in Dunedin so that the grass could grow.

There's a soon-to-be developed tract of land right next door to Central station that could be used.

Maybe the State Government could arrange some sort of land transfer deal for the SFS land instead.

Given that the stadium would be used by the Roosters, Waratahs, Sydney FC and other select RL matches you could build a purpose built 45,000 seat stadium with a roof and carpark. It's less than 200 metres to train and bus depots and the uni - mostly undercover - plus there's restaurants and pubs nearby.
