I think an expectation of 30k at the souths game is unrealistic. 20-25k would be a great outcome given the attendance at the storm game a massive outlier compared to the norm for Sydney v out of town clubs. The big difference here is souths v Melbourne was 1st v 2nd, while the cowboys are struggling a bit

I have no sour grapes about Souths - a few weeks ago i was praising their 32k v Storm crowd.

I dont give a rats arse about how much revenue they make.

So calm your farm and look at this with logic and understand this:

If Souths have 25k members we should never see a crap crowd.

They never claimed to have 25K ticketed members. I am looking at this with logic and yours makes no sense. You can gloat about and be proud of having 25K members whether or not you get 25K to each game or not. They are totally separate things.

Also you're already changing the goal posts. What constitutes a crap crowd? Because anything above 20K for a Sydney match against the cowboys is not a crap crowd.

Souths are being held to a different standard because people are upset about them talking up their membership numbers.

Yes, they are seperate things - but - they should correlate. Why can't you understand why it would look stupid for ANY team to have such a large amount of members and get a crap crowd.

Se below for what constitutes a crap crowd.

Souths had over 20k members last year and got 12,213 v the cowboys. When you have over 20,000 members this is a crap crowd.

No matter who the team, if you get a crowd smaller than your ticketed members its pretty poor.

Im not upset about them talking up their membership numbers, good on them. Now just continue to get the good crowds.

Bottom line is if we get 20k against the Cowboys, that's a good crowd. It would be good for every other Sydney team so its good for us.

Every other team would kill for 20k crowds against low profile out of town teams. We set records against the Storm. If we get 20k against teams like the Cowboys we will have an outstanding average at the end of the season.

So is claiming unticketed members as 'members'.
The money unticketed members pay is the same colour as ticketed members.

The Broncos sold something like 5000 single game "memberships", every one of our ticketed memberships cost more than their single game ticketed membership.

Memberships and crowds are two different things. Handicapping our crowds because of our membership numbers is farcical. It's like saying a tall person has to supersize their maccas meal. Because they're big they have to eat a bigger meal every day. True sometimes but not necessarily true all the time.

Just like memberships and crowds. Memberships don't always have to mean bigger crowds. They sometimes do but a crowd considered good for Easts should not be considered crap for Souths just because we have a lot of members.

And that attitude is unfair. If 12213 is crap for us, it's crap for everybody. If 20k is good for everybody else it's good for us.

12,213 is a crap crowd in general.

You pick out our second lowest home crowd from last year? Against an out of town team?

We averaged 18,904 last year, second to the Dogs in Sydney.

In Sydney, that average has only been beaten by Parra once in 99 and the Dogs 5 times.

The 32k we had against the Storm, the only bigger regular season crowd they have ever played in front of home or away, are 6 games they have played against you.

We are going alright, go and pick a bone with someone else.

They should correlate and they are. Souths memberships have been going up and so have their crowds.

Fair bit of backpeddling going on here. First of all you said that they should be getting at least 25K to every game (which is just a ridiculous assertion). I never disagreed that Souths getting 12K to a game would be poor given their membership base. I disagree that they have to get 25K+ for it to be a good crowd.

No matter who the team, if you get a crowd smaller than your ticketed members its pretty poor.

So how many ticketed members do souths have? I'm assuming you, like the rest of us, don't know the answer to this so you're making an awful lot of assumptions.

I remember saints had like 78 or 83% in 2010 as ticketed. But we have 6 game memberships in each city so might make ours higher. Either way people are just whinging. I use to be in the lol@souths giving away free memberships (souths cares, famous people and to dead parents) but meh, membership and crowds going up. Good stuff.

If we get 19k against the Cowboys, that would be their biggest ever crowd in Sydney for a regular season game.

Just saying.

I picked your last cowboys crowd.

I understand your crowds arent bad and knew souths average of last year. Im not picking bone - Broncos have 25k members too - and if they get a crowd below 25k its crap. In my opinion, crowds that are MUCH smaller than the clubs membership number just look dire.

I praised the 32k storm crowd time and time again. Using one crowd as defence wont get you anywhere.

At first i sussed the souths website and it came across as if they were saying they had 25k ticketed. But after researching their membership method - obviously not.

Zero backtracking here - trying to get you to understand that hypothetically speaking if they did have 25k ticketed members and 14k-16k show up. That looks like shit.

Well yeah i agree with that assessment. Hardly seems worth discussing when souths don't have anywhere near that many ticketed members.

One of the big things with memberships is getting people who don't go to games to support the club as well. I don't see it as a bad thing that souths have so many non ticketed members. Of course getting ticketed members is even better but non ticketed members are good as well.

Using one of our lower drawing games in isolation is also not valid.

In any case, I have a season pass and I can't make every home game. Same as most.

I will be going the next two games, and that is all I can do as a supporter.

Over 20,000 tickets already sold for Warriors vs. Bulldogs in Wellington this Saturday. Officials hoping for over 25,000.

Wellington gears up for NRL match

Wellington sports fans have been enjoying some hearty treats over the past few weeks.

Not only have they had the resurgent Central Pulse netball team and the entertaining if erratic Hurricanes rugby side to follow, but AFL and now rugby league have been on the menu.

The AFL match between St Kilda and the Sydney Swans on Anzac Day drew 22,5000 curious fans to Westpac Stadium.

That impressive figure may be topped on Saturday when the Warriors take on the Canterbury Bulldogs in a National Rugby League match.

Though the Warriors have made a poor start to the season, they eked out a one-point win over the Gold Coast Titans last weekend and will be hoping to confirm their improved form against the Bulldogs.

Home team drawcards will include Manu Vatuvei, Shaun Johnson and Wellingtonians Ben Matulino and Simon Mannering.

The Bulldogs hammered the Wests Tigers 40-4 last weekend.

With 20,000 tickets sold already, officials are hopeful of a crowd of at least 25,000.

The game begins at 7.30pm.
