If demand is far far less, why have we never drawn less than QLD since the stadium opened in 1999?

Fact is we have an 83,000 stadium that in recent years we consistently attract 25-30k more fans to. Any arguments about demand outstripping supply are redundant when so few fans from the general public are allocated tickets.

Every other year the whole stadium bar a couple of bays is allowed for the general public. Which sells out in 5-40minutes.

Our population is way less than half. If we had an 83k sweater we would still sell it out same day - gaurantee.

4.6million people, tickets available on game day - not much demand there.

So you're telling me every other year 40-45k have been available to the general public?

You're having a laugh.

Our population is way less than half.
And so is the quota of games played at your stadium... of course there's going to be more interest in attending footy at Suncorp when you can only see 13 games there in a year. People in Sydney get an average of 3-4 games a weekend all season.
If we had an 83k sweater we would still sell it out same day - gaurantee.
If you're buying sweaters for $83,000 you've got issues :p

In seriousness - I'm sick of the crap "if we had it, we'd sell it out guaranteed".

Useless statement whose only basis is on emotion.
4.6million people, tickets available on game day - not much demand there.
80,380 - highest ever opening Origin game crowd despite having lost 7 consecutive series.

Should game 3 generate a similar or even LARGER crowd, there'll have been 160,000 alone attend NSW origin matches this year.

Are you really going to sit there and tell me that NSW doesn't care about the f**king thing?

Timmah, Suncorp only has 45k general public seats. A massive amount of stadium memberships are retained by corporates.

Previously Sections 321, 322, 510, 511 and 512 were all held for corporates for origin games - for an origin 3 bays 533, 532 and 531 are added to that list.

The rest of the stadium is available to the general public.

This year the ticketing allocation was vastly different to before. And is an absolute joke and confusing alot of people.

In the 1990s,NSW sold out SoO in 15-30min without any issue.
Simply easier to do based on a smaller stadium and demand outstripping suppliy.
Add in the corporate requests,it doesnt leave many for the average punter.

Introduce an 80,000+ seater and it changes the whole dynamics.
Not only does in it increases the availabily,it also lessens the pressure and urgency on tickets.

Brisbane and Suncorp is in exactly the same position as Sydney was in the 1990s.

There are stacks of tickets available to game 2 still.

Maroons members tickets in all categories stil available. 2 x cat 1 tickets for $530 which gets you entry to the game and a $80 merchandise voucher. Equivalent tickets at ANZ stadium were $200 a pop, came with nothing, and were sold out months in advance.

This "maroons members" nonsense, has that been around long? Seems like a joke as it basically meant a lot of people would have assumed the game is sold out when looking at the public tickets despite plenty still available

No doubt that if QLD had lost 7 series in a row then they'd struggle to sell out so quickly (if at all) the games played in bandwagon city. These "passionate" maroons fans would be off following the Reds, the Lions or the Roar.

Maroons member and cauldron crap were introduced last year, but only 2 bays each. This year there's so much.

I am so tempted to say "per capita" and run with that argument (even though it is tosh) just to annoy the people (such as firechild) who use it willy nilly. But I won't. :)

History says otherwise. At the end of the 70s Queensland, after decades of being sh*t were still drawing good crowds to interstate games, whereas NSW were drawing in the likes of 4000.

The other thing is - unlike in nsw, every Queensland fan has merchandise already, so many people in Sydney just wear casual.

My jersey for Origin is a retro "Q". Nice and clean. Also have a circa 2001 training jersey that comes out, but it has seen a bit of mowing duty and isn't in the best nick.

Agree about your point. I know that my workplace attracts a LOT of jerseys on Origin days.
