yep

14 Professional sporting teams in Sydney to

just 4 in Brisbane

it gets worse for the Qlders ....:lol::lol:

Still can't answer (read?) the per capita question, hey Raiderbolt?

Here it is in bold.

Who is better off? Each of a million people earning one dollar, or one person in a million earning a million dollars?

In 2012 a total of 1,747,827 people attended matches in Sydney over 26 rounds, an average of 67,224 per weekend. This does not include matches in Wollongong or the Central Coast played by Sydney based clubs, nor does it include games moved out of Sydney (Perth, Mackay, etc). Brisbane had a total attendance of 441,801 over the same period (Including a Bulldogs home game) for an average of 16,992 per weekend. There is no way of knowing if those numbers are unique or repeat attendances so we can adjust down by 5% (no way it would be that high) and make the Sydney figure 63,862. But then what is to say fans aren't attending games at Suncorp as well as Robina?

15K at Brookie from a 250k population is about 6% of the population attending.
30k at Suncorp from a 2.1mill population is less than 1.5% of the population attending.

While you're answer my other questions, I notice how you overestimated Manly's crowds (they only averaged 14.5k last year) and underestimated Brisbane's (who averaged over 33k last year).

Maybe you can wear Alan Jones Professor of Mathematics crown...

You were the one discussing a 30K crowd at Suncorp, I used YOUR value. You can adjust it to 5.8% of the population then, still way ahead of your 1.5%.

...which invalidates your original hypothesis, viz. a person in Sydney is statistically more likely to attend an NRL match. Specifically, you said it was a "fact"

Either it's a fact, and you can demonstrate that, or it is an assertion. And this thread is full of assertions, many of them boneheaded.

All you have asserted is that because there a more games, more people attend, even though the crowds are smaller. We all know that.

I have stated, all along, that objectively, crowds of over 30k are good. No one, including you, has brought a shred of anything to the table to change that.

Oh, and like Raiderbolt, you avoided my question (re geographical area).

Dare say the Donks problems lie in having most of their games on Friday nights as well as the ridiculous ticket prices, neither of which they have control over.

That being said, Suncorp stadium is virtually in the middle of town, and couldn't be any easier to get to given all the free public transport on offer

Did I?

Raiderdope returns to tell us why a crowd in the 30000s is bad. Perhaps we should through the Broncs out of the NRL. They are clearly underperforming.

You should give 2GB a call. They could use someone like you on air.

Which question re: geographical area? I'm answering the questions you ask, providing data. I may have missed something but I'm not avoiding anything.

As for it being a assertion rather than a fact; a fact is a fact regardless of my ability to demonstrate it. The world was always round despite the fact it was not demonstrated until relatively recently. Unless you can demonstrate that about 75% of the figure I gave are repeat attenders on a given weekend (i.e. roughly 16,000 people all going to 4 different games) then I maintain that it is a FACT that more people in Sydney are attending games.

Ok, you got me. Even if we bump that number up to 39,000 it is still 5.8% for Manly and 1.8% for Brisbane.

PS. Nice to know half your argument is based on personal attacks. Keep up the good work. :thumb

Statistically Sydneysiders are far more likely to attend an NRL game than people of Brisbane. No matter how you want to spin your numbers this remains a fact.

Yeah the idiot has no idea. 100k last weekend watch NRL. 40k in Brisbane. This weekend 0 in Brisbane 40k+ in Sydney. You can't spin the numbers

The corollary of this statement is that it was believed to be a fact that ether was the substance through which electro-magnetic waves moved. And this turned out to be false.

Just because you believe something to be true doesn't make it true. If you are going to go down that path we may as well be debating creationism or climate change with Andrew Bolt.

The question was this: what geographical region are you nominating for this population of 2.1 million? For instance, are you saying it is Beenleigh to Redlciffe? Yatala to Caboolture?

It's a personal attack to point out that I was misquoted? Pretty low threshold for "personal attack" there, champ.
