The crowd at Brookie today looked <5k on TV. Looked average at best. The two hills were very sparse and could even see plenty of empty seats in the stands..

It pissed rain all morning, of course the Manly and Leichhardt crowds were going to take a massive hit, grass hills are marvellous on a fine sunny afternoon but a slippery, muddy, miserable mess in the rain.

The problem could be there was so much hype about the ANZAC Day games that some people forgot about the matches played yesterday and today.

For fans today it's not about going to a game anymore it's all about going to a big event. Fridays games were promoted heavily. To the degree the rest of the weekend was forgotten about.

How much promotion did today's games get? Zilch.

Got to get out of these suburban shitholes and into modern facilities and if teams like manly don't get fans to travel then they can watch manly play NSW Cup games at Brookie. ANZ and SFS are the future and I don't see what the NRL are waiting for, waning them off these dumps is going to be painful whether it's today or in 5 years time, it's time for the ARLC to make the tough decisions for the future, that's what they are there for. The NSW government won't fork out the maintenance to keep these grounds alive so it's going to happen soon anyway.

You can't just magically make the SFS easy to travel to for Manly fans- it's effectively impossible to make a 7:30/7pm kick-off when you work in the city, inner-west or North Shore and have to travel home through the traffic to the Northern Beaches, get kids organised etc, then travel back to the city. Centralised stadiums are a good idea in theory, and can work for some teams, but they're just not a realistic option for others.

How do you think Manly would go permanently playing out of the Central Coast???

Also, itd probably be worth making rules that certain teams never host games on weeknights...

Just like last week, some very very average crowds following some great crowds on public holidays; highlights once again that yes we do have a very long way to go with crowds

The three Friday games averaged 37,207. The remaining five games averaged 11,997.

As I said earlier their was so much hype about the ANZAC Day games the rest of the weekend was forgotten about.

Like it or not fans will not attend every home game. They will attend games that they consider are big events. Manly against Canberra and Wests against Gold Coast can never be considered as big events.

I understand that, but you lot barely even travel for finals and that's with the NRL hiring shuttles to games, you have played in 4 grand finals in 7 years, there's either not many of you or your apathetic, either way I think it's about time clubs start demonstrating their value to the competition because if clubs aren't growing the game isn't growing.

that's true, but how many are being put off by dilapidated grounds, games are priced as an event and yet the shithole facilities don't match that expectation. It's akin to expecting people to pay $20 to watch a movie in a cinema without seats and air conditioning.
