It's always going to be cold, it's always going to be wet, and it's always going to be windy.

The game needs to grow out of the dark ages. Manly cant ever grow the code.
They have wasted 10 years at the top, at least Melbourne is growing a crowd slowly building into a powerhouse.

Big Cities are sure winners. Brisbane has been neglected and left to rot without massive local derbies. Brisbane should have 3 teams. No excuses.
You want to see 40 thousand crowds weekly, bring in 2 extra Brisbane teams, even move Manly to Brisbane's Wynnum/Manly. They would have bigger crowds than Manly even if they were running last.
Manly is living on borrowed time.
You think their crowds are crap now, wait until every other team starts flogging them once half the team retires and they lose Daley-Cherry to the new Expansion Brisbane team. It will happen.

The big game tonite is the blockbuster between the Warriors and Bunnies, two powerhouse teams of the future.
Perth needs their own team, even Adelaide could do with a team.
Dogs Verse manly, top of the table clash, sub 10 thousand crowd, other codes are laughing all the way to success while we play mud-pies and backyard league.
Rant over.

Personally I would go regardless of the weather, exposure to the elements is one of the best aspects of attending a game,
but I wouldn't criticize anyone who chooses to watch the game on tv instead

Yeah, some times at Broncos games when everyone is wet people decide "feck it" and get a bit more involved.

The NRL needs to come up with a plan for the north instead of focusing all their attention on the west. If the Bears are coming in, then bring them in, if not, then rezone the North Shore to be Sea Eagles territory and then something will have to be done stadium wise in the north. Telling the 1+ million people north of the harbour bridge that the NRL's plan for them is to travel to the SFS or ANZ for every game is idiocy. The north could be a really strong RL area if there was some investment made in it, as it is, we only have one team there playing out of a decrepit old stadium where the experience is completely ruined if there's any sort of rain, and a giant hole that the zombie reserve grade form of the Bears still holds onto, not allowing other teams to do work in the area.

These issues are very solvable, throwing away the entirety of the north, however, is plain stupidity. A call has to be made on the Bears and a decent stadium needs to be built/upgraded.

The North remembers, winter is coming...

Parra crowd was good. 16 thousand against the Cows is not a bad result compared to some crowd figures this year.
The point is that clubs like Manly, Canberra, Sharks and dragons cant keep crowd averages up when they play teams from outside sydney.
The code is killing itself softly to prop up Sydney clubs that none gives a toss about.

In the meantime we have cities with 1,,,2 and even 3 million that dont even have a team,.

The law of averages say that people will follow their team in these big cities, where as Manly will only ever get a Manly support. It's all in the name.

Even the Bears would have been a better option. At least the Bears have the name that brings support.

Look, the code is dumb met dumber, and dumber is winning.

While other codes are thriving in our heartlands. (the Lions are planning a sneak attack into the heart of Brisbane and getting the Ipswich council to build them another big round white elephant in the heart of Brisbane, while league gets shafted because Sydney rugby league has never grown outside sydney. ) ,,,our game continues to crawl around 10 thousand crowds at bog tracks and in the coldest hell on earth, Canberra.
Of course your going to go backwards when you bet on those losers and leave millions out in the cold.
Big cities is the way forward, stop wasting money where the game cant grow. will never grow.
Manly and Canberra are dead-ends, own up to that and move on.

The best game this weekend is the Warriors,(where we should be putting a second team now, not when every other code has gone their and put two teams because they now know it takes two teams to have a derby, gee-whiz, we learn nothing from the AFL, they have two teams in every city, and are working towards a second Brisbane team while we sit around and watch like stale porkchops. Someone wake Smithy up before the aFL beat Brisbane to a second team, stop this stalling Bullshite)

So the warriors, where Kiwis flock in huge numbers all around the country, and the Rabbits, where Rusty Crowe has turned them into a international Brand.

In Perth, and the crowd will double the Manly mob.
Put another team in NZ so they can keep their own juniors, and not watch them head to Manly.
And they might win the comp.
Imagine NZ at the top for 10 years, the game would double in popularity.
Unlike the other mob who has been their for 10 years now and nobody gives a bullocks.
Rant over.

Not the point. Point is the conditions were horrible tonight for fans, winter sport or not. You can freeze your behind in the wet and cold or sit with a heater on and a pizza, which one would you choose tonight? Tonight was a very unusual Friday!

Well if your a RL fan you stay at home, if your an afl fan you get off your backside and support your team. For the toughest game in the world some of our fans are real princesses!

I agree. When i emigrated here I didn't expect people.to be so adverse to weather. I have stood on terraces in Belfast in 2 degrees, its all part of the experience and atmosphere

It is Friday night, my goodness. You just don't get Sydney. It is a hassle to get to the games at the best of times, let alone when it is cold, wet and add the traffic to that. It was a nightmare yesterday. I was exhausted just after getting home yesterday, the last thing I would have wanted to do was go to the football last night.

Anyone have any latest PAX numbers on Origin 2? There was a big spike in ticket sales just after Origin 1 for about 3-4 days then it just seems to have completely died down since then.

I get redirected to literally the same tickets that were available a week ago across all categories when trying to buy some via ticketek.

To be expected, IMO. Ticket sales will spike again after the announcement of the teams and leading up to the game. No idea about the latest PAX though
