What is the alternative to brookvale ?

SFS - crowds would be 5k
ANZ - crowds would be 7.5k

We'll the NRL should put manly and it's council on notice that the ground is not up to NRL standard and if they don't produce a realistic plan to change that then they will no longer have a NRL license. All the time they are told it is acceptable there is no motivation to do anything about it. Gosford has a perfectly good empty stadium just up the coast.

Chatswood is close to manly as the crow flies.

but having friends and family in manly, people in the peninsular don't leave the place except for the commute to work and some of em will change jobs just to avoid that.

They will not travel anywhere to watch the footy, imo Manly belongs in the nsw cup with norths the team they banished. Bring perth in for them instead, funny thing is, perth would be the same shit away draw as manly already is! But atleast perth would draw at home, one would hope.

The nrl looks like a pub competition whenever brookvale is showcased, relic of an ground needs to be put to pasture. Credit to parra avoiding sub 10k barely against the Cowboys. 1 vs 3 gets out draw by eels and cowboys. Disgraceful.

If manly had not been arrogant pricks

They could have been playing 6 games a year playing at a sold out blue tongue and 6 games at a sold out brookvale

That 10k brings our home crowd average below 20k,we gonna need a decent crowd against the Doggies in round 23 to keep it above 20k

In the scheme of things- the worst weather available, the crowds were not disastrous. Honestly a lot of people that might have gone tonight stayed at home, it was wet, cold and above all a pretty ordinary night to go out.

The NRL needs to come up with a plan for the north instead of focusing all their attention on the west. If the Bears are coming in, then bring them in, if not, then rezone the North Shore to be Sea Eagles territory and then something will have to be done stadium wise in the north. Telling the 1+ million people north of the harbour bridge that the NRL's plan for them is to travel to the SFS or ANZ for every game is idiocy. The north could be a really strong RL area if there was some investment made in it, as it is, we only have one team there playing out of a decrepit old stadium where the experience is completely ruined if there's any sort of rain, and a giant hole that the zombie reserve grade form of the Bears still holds onto, not allowing other teams to do work in the area.

These issues are very solvable, throwing away the entirety of the north, however, is plain stupidity. A call has to be made on the Bears and a decent stadium needs to be built/upgraded.

Winter sport, no?

Not the point. Point is the conditions were horrible tonight for fans, winter sport or not. You can freeze your behind in the wet and cold or sit with a heater on and a pizza, which one would you choose tonight? Tonight was a very unusual Friday!

Personally I would go regardless of the weather, exposure to the elements is one of the best aspects of attending a game,
but I wouldn't criticize anyone who chooses to watch the game on tv instead
