This game was scheduled for ANZ, was it moved because the RU booked it first or did the NRL give it up?

WESTS Tigers are likely to seek compensation from the NRL after agreeing to play the Sydney Roosters in their round 23 clash at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday, August 16, instead of ANZ Stadium.

The club was down to play the blockbuster against the defending premiers at the much bigger ANZ Stadium, but the venue is unavailable on that night due to the Bledisloe Cup clash between Australia and New Zealand.

?We have got some commercial issues in and around marketing and our members with the change from ANZ to Leichhardt for that game that we need to sort through,? a Tigers spokesman said.

?There will be some negotiations in that regard.?

People aren`t going to take their kids to the footy in the rain especially if the ground does`nt have sufficient cover and they have to stand in mud.

Finally, attrition with the Sydney clubs is beginning to take affect. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for this absolute farce of a club.

It was set down for Monday night but had to be moved due to WST playing Thursday v Bulldogs in the following round. It had to be moved to Saturday to allow a minimum 5 day turnaround, and therefore couldn't have been played at ANZ.

This particular game is the entire reason the NRL stuffed the R21-26 fixture release 6 weeks ago.

The rain wasn't the problem, the fact an NRL game is allowed to be played in a stadium, and I use the word loosely, that is nsw cup standard is the real problem.

Agreed.

But you cant say the weather didn't play a part, probably lost 5k because of it.

Went out to the ground. suburban grounds with hills and no cover are f**king dreadful at night, and absolutely laughable in the wet. I'm surprised that there was 5000 there to be honest as it seriously did not look anywhere near that.

But 19k will come for the next sunny Sunday and we will all declare how awesome it is.

Truth is in driving rain Sydney's best rectangular stadium got the same last week

If we had some good quality all weather options it would help

Australia can't build a stadium with decent weather protection. I have yet to go to one that keeps you dry if you are 20rows or less from the front. Considering RL is a winter sport and it rains a fair bit in winter the lack of suitable roofs on stands has me confused. Aami, suncorp, Sfs, anz, shark park, nib I've got soaked at them all!

Oh come off it. Rain is always a problem, clubs still get crowds in the rain if they have a hardy fanbase. The Roosters' is ridiculously small.

Tigers home game anyone?

No...

Bloody Roosters. Should've done more to promote the game. Where was SBW all week?

This!! A full house at a suburban stadium and we all say how great it is for league and how soulless the big stadiums are.
