Crap crowd in Melbourne. Weather was great and Origin players all back.

Tickets are pretty expensive - $30 GA behind the posts then the next price bracket only covers about 4 terrible bays deep in the corners on each side. So it's over $50 for a decent seat. Very expensive in a town where you are trying to draw new fans

^is that official?

Don't know why they persist with Sunday afternoon games on the gold coast

tbf, they don't turn up at any time. 12K is way way better than the last crowd they got. mind you there is a LOT of red in that crowd. a lot.

NRL really needs to help GC with some marketing and promotion money up there

Important battleground area where we must maintain dominance

It's got nothing to do with marketing. Noone wants to see a team that is missing the finals 4 years in a row. Especially now when the Suns are contenders and getting bigger crowds.

If the Tits got their act together and start winning they'd have bigger crowds. Instead we're looking at 6 straight years of crowd decreases.

Except Cronk. It's not a great crowd but we were out of the 8 with essentially no away fans. 12K isn't a shocking crowd, it's pretty damn average but it's close to what you'd expect.

Disgraceful

lol to be fair HT, Parra v Storm have played 13 times at Parra stadium in their history and only once has the crowd been bigger there than today's games at AAMI and that was way back in 1998 which was the first time they played each other.

At Parra:

2012: 9,029
2011: 10,028
2010: 7,572
2009: 10,804
2008: 12,597
2006: 7,139
2004: 8,243
2003: 8,136
2002: 11,132
2001: 12,078
2000: 10,283
1999: 11,249
1998: 15,435

Only if the NRL get a degree of control within the club. With G Annesly in charge, i dont think a bag of money with no strings would do much...

Basing your marketing plan on on-field success, in a league where half the teams miss the finals, is the dumbest shit you could possibly imagine. It is vital to sell the team in a way that means interest even in the shitty years.

Wests Tigers made this mistake in 2012; they just assumed they would go well on the field and, when they didnt, they had no alternative plan. They ran at a loss and couldnt draw crowds.

Success is something you cant plan...

This, we paid $55for sideline seats, then when it started raining we got soaked and ended up moving behind the sticks where the roof keeps you dry! The storm supporters clubs also base themselves in the GA areas. Like most stadiums they should make the main stand opposite the camera GA for $25 a seat. Would make the grounds look a lot better.
