Like we have Monday nights?

Do you have evidence to add or just nonsense speculation. A summary glance of the TV ratings highlights Monday night as an excellent time slot.

Crowd numbers are a bit lower, but give it time and they will grow.
Bear in mind we aren't seeing the Broncos host on Monday night, which no doubt affects the crowd?

You need me to give you evidence that fans don't like going to games on a Monday night? Wtf??

You don't run a business hoping the fans will "learn" to like your product.

You run one whereby you sell a product the fans want.

But they are selling a product the fans want.

Your argument presumes that those showing up to games are the only or most relevant consumers, completely ignoring the TV numbers.

True but bums on seats = a lot more $'s in pockets of clubs. You can have a billion $ TV deal and a fan attending games friendly schedule as the afl is showing us. The fact we negate the needs of fans going to games to continue to bend over to TV execs needs to change.

What's the fox TV numbers on a Monday night compared to Saturdays and Sundays? If fox really wanted to,give the fans reason to subscribe they would have stumped up more for the right to show every game live.

10k fans missing:?:?............................could have fooled me this game usually gets 70k+...............;-)
2013
Sun 07-Apr-2013 3:20 PM Att:84,247 Venue: M.C.G.
Fri 05-Jul-2013 7:50 PM Att:78,224 Venue: M.C.G.
2012
Fri 13-Apr-2012 7:50 PM Att:84,259 Venue: M.C.G.
Fri 06-Jul-2012 7:50 PM Att:75,890 Venue: M.C.G.

They were missing about 40k fans to this fixture, that is why they say Monday nights is not working. The NRL does not have %50 of its base missing for Monday night footy so it is not as damaging as it is for the AFL.

Given the weather and that it was on a Sunday night they were only ever expecting 50k. Then they got 40, thats where they pulled the 10k fans.

AFL fans hate Sunday nights in mid winter just as much as NRL fans hate Monday nights.

For the coming week:

Bulldogs: 17k
Dragons: 13k
Roosters: 11k
Tigers: 15k
Souths: 12k

5 Sydney games?

Interesting to say the least.

Crowds could be really dire this week, I reckon this weekend could've been the perfect chance to trial something like a magic weekend ala Super League with all 5 games out one stadium over 2 days.

Or taken some of those games on the road to league starved areas.

Doing my comparison of games again (see http://forums.leagueunlimited.com/sh...postcount=2019).

Round 16 (105k) was 2k down on the average of the equivalent games from 2009-2013 (107k). This was our 6th week of losses in a row. Last year we had a streak of 10 weeks of losses.

crowd_2014_16_80.png

The biggest fall came from Tigers vs Raiders (-5k). Mind you, it was better than last year's effort of 7,833. But for the 6 games from 2005 to 2012, it used to average 17k.

The other negative was:
- Dragons vs Storm -4k (lowest crowd for this fixture since 2008)

The positives were:
- Sea Eagles vs Roosters +5k (highest crowd for this fixture since 2004)
- Cowboys vs Rabbitohs +1k
- Eels vs Knights +1k
- Warriors vs Panthers +1k

Broncos vs Sharks was marginally down.

Next week's par crowd total is 67k, and I'm tipping another small loss.

My guesses are:
Bulldogs vs Sea Eagles 19k
Dragons vs Cowboys 12k
Roosters vs Sharks 12k
Wests Tigers vs Panthers 13k
Rabbitohs vs Titans 9k
Total: 65k

Yeah those games could have drawn far far bigger if they were not on a school night.

That said, the bunnies boss has repeatedly said he doesn't give a shit about crowd figures.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

These games are set to kickoff at 7.45. But more likely closer to 8pm. With the extended half time break that sometimes reaches 15 mins and with the number of stoppages that the game has the finishing time could be close to 10pm.

Taking in to account travelling time, fans could be getting home pretty late on what is a work and school night.

Stupid, stupid, stupid decision to play these games on Thursday night.

Those days and times for Rds 21-26 are just markers.

IE, rather than put "TBC" before every game which would be the more sensible option, they've listed every game starting at the first time slot for the weekend's rounds.

So everybody's playing their Rd 21 game at 7:00PM (wherever the home team's from) on Thursday night, for instance.

The blessed NRL had announced that the confirmed days and times for Rds 21-26 would be announced 11AM Thursday 3rd July. Earlier today, a further announcement removed the "11AM" part of that statement.

I fully expect the entire statement will be replaced by "the dates and times for Rds 21-26 will be announced here on NRL.COM once we get our shit together and have brown-nosed the TV Men enough."

Round 23 Rabbitohs v Broncos at ANZ Stadium;

This would have been a perfect game to play in perth on a Friday night with a 7.30pm WA KO giving a 9:30pm live game into Sydney and Brisbane. Would have got 20k plus and probably sold out. Instead it will prob get 14k at ANZ and look like another terrible rattling around crowd. sigh.

They could have then shown the Panthers v Cowboys as the 7:30pm live game into both states as well giving bumper Tv audiences. Two live games featuring a Qlnd v NSw team in each.
