I see the swans are playing tonight and will get a bigger crowd than 2 nrl games. It's mind boggling that the swans have the highest attendance in nsw and not a nrl team. That's unacceptable for league heartland, the likes of souths or bulldogs should be the top draw not the swans.

Not protecting the shield but The swans and giants each play what like 11 games in Sydney compared to how many NRL games in the city?

16k IMO. The quicker some of you start adjusting to more realistic expectations, the less disappointed you'll be with NRL crowds. That's not saying we should accept being average either

It's a embarrassment to the nrl to have one afl game outdraw 2 nrl games in self proclaimed heartland. No matter how it can be spun and the excuses it's just a bad look for the nrl to be seen second rate in its own heartland by other codes.

Manly been top of the table should be packing out brookie and two west Sydney nrl in the top 8 should draw a decent crowd but it won't due to apathy and excuses.

Really. Two top 4 teams

Gotta be 20k min

Panthers have to bring 2-3k of diehards

Dogs avg 15,885.

Assuming those are all Dogs fans, with no away fans, and then including your 3k panthers diehards, we get 18,885.

Your expectations aren't even realistic based on your own numbers....

And before you start blowing up about league heartlands:
Sydney clubs draw 140k on avg.
The 4 West sydney clubs 62k on avg

So you're saying we need less Sydney teams...

Interesting.

No he's saying if the AFL played as many games in Sydney as the NRL does their crowds would be abysmal.

We absolutely categorically DO NOT need less teams in Sydney.

This TV contract was all about money, and they gave away a lot of power to get back into the black...

By the next deal they will have $200mil in the bank. The TV quality may not get any better (i have a bad feeling that 9 will just be so desperate again they will hang on), but you can be damn sure the ARLC will get a better deal for people attending games.

The issue well with Panthers anyway is we have fans but they don't go to the games. So we work on that then potentially move games

So why aren't Panthers fans attending? It's really not that far...

Did you speak to all of them?

Not all but plenty of regulars the sort of fans you see at 8k home crowds. Like the Flaggies always go so we will have some fans there but not the 5-10k needed to take the crowd over 25k. I reckon around the Tigers/Bulldogs from a few weeks ago 22k still a good crowd but not great

they do have fans just less then a lot of other teams.

They have the same game attending proportion as everyone else.

We have almost 17k members yet struggle to get 12k to games. Our away attendance is almost non existant these need to be fixed before we move games to bigger staduims

Hopefully nights like this give NRL house the wake up call they need.

Especially when they leave work tonight and see 40,000 Afl fans next door
