Seriously, why would anyone not want to watch two great teams in Sydney and North Queensland slug it out at a great venue?

It's the NRL, they no longer market finals as events, they only encourage fans of the teams to go.

Market the finals like you do origin and the crowds would be much better

 Unfortunately there's probably too much truth to this post.

Yeah this thread is so miserable. Just a constant whinge about lazy Sydneysiders. There hasn't been an original thought posted to this thread in a decade.

Easts v Cowboys got 43k for a finals match in Sydney 10 years ago.

I remember a lot of Cowboys fans travelled down, plus it was on a Sunday.

How many Cowboys fans would be travelling down for this one?

They should really promote this one, as a battle between the big name players Thurston Vs SBW and not as an event on TV.

A lot of neutral fans might go to this one, heck I might even go.

I'm neutral and I would go.

Bottom line is, 43-45k have attended a Roosters v Cowboys game in the past in Sydney.

A decent crowd can be achieved. Let's see some mainstream promotion for a change.

And a month ago more people attended manly v souths at the stadium next door than attended the final on Friday.

This. Big difference that makes.

Bring back Sunday arvo Wk 2/3 finals!

Not many travelled down 2 yrs ago against Manly on the Friday night (which is when they will also play the Roosters), so I don't think many will be travelling down again.

Bottom line: this game will get 15-20k, which is pathetic for a week 2 finals match
