Townsville to put 'heartland' nsw to shame tonight. Will outdraw roosters/penrith easily. You think come finals time fans will show up nope more excuses.

Most Sydney clubs would've sold 26k seats by now to a finals game against their biggest rival.

Even if their biggest rivals were thousand kms away? You couldn't get two top teams getting that last night! Clubs like melbourne, warriors, cowboys, broncos, in fact every club outside of Sydney with the exception of Canberra would have likely equalled last nights crowd with one set of fans. Dockers fans here qued overnight to get a seat to their home final this weekend, every one of the 45k seat sold in hours, simple fact is there is not that many NRL fans in Sydney to expect 9 teams to have 20k attending fans. Either get more fans or less teams if you want to see regular 20k crowds against out of town teams and 35k plus all Sydney games is the only answer really.

So less teams equals more fans? Hmm........

Less teams equals more fans per club if done right. On the expansion thread I showed that, arguably, the merger of dragons and tigers and the space that freed up for new clubs has led to an avg 24.5k extra fans into the NRL. It was mentioned the reason all the melbourne clubs have decent fanbases, if not decent finances, is they draw city wide. Reality is there is probably only tigers, bulldogs, souths, dragons, eels who are set to do that in the NRL, the rest seem restricted and that restriction is a major issue for a code that wants to see 20k plus crowds and sell out finals.

~23,500 apparently, shit poor.

Roosters pathetic, finals game, minor premiers, defending premiers, at home, Saturday early kickoff, against a Sydney club.

Should be f**king embarrassed!

I'm getting in early for the cowboys game. Terrible crowd, v big brother. Both same state, their preferred Saturday night slot, should get way more than 26k.

The sooner the likes of the roosters and manly are down the bottom of the ladder the better. Their fans are a blight on the NRL.

There was never going to be more people tonight even at a preferred timeslot of early Saturday night so why are people so surprised for.
