f**k off with your Manly hating agenda. We get it.

You still haven't explained why Manly have to get 10,000 more people than the other Sydney v non-Sydney preliminary finals since 2006 for it to be acceptable. Why wasn't 29,000 at the Bulldogs v Broncos prelim disgraceful?

You got a thing for bringing up the Bulldogs!!! We have the 2nd highest crowd average in the NRL (And have been up there for a number of years now)... Get back to me when Manly do.

ALSO if that 2006 game was played at ANZ we would've got 40-45K... We got 27K against Brisbane during the year on a Friday night at ANZ for a normal club game. SFS from Belmore is a lot harder to get to then Brooky... The club didn't throw in free buses also!!!

This is a Manly argument... No need to bring up other clubs especially when our averages dwarf Manly’s!

This just brings up another point, manly should have a stadium big enough to play a prelim at. It's embarassing that one of our premier and most succesful clubs has to play out of thet s**thole called brookie, i really feel for manly fans, we were stuck at Olympic park for years and it was bordering a joke, thank god we got the AAMI Park upgrade, i hope the council up your way pulls your finger out and gives the club and it's fan's a great ground they can be proud of.

Then what does preference have to do with anything?

Manly fans always winge about Brookie. Then when games are moved somewhere else they just dont go. Obviously a prelim wont be at brookie. But i am under the impression that manly fans prefer to go to SFS then Olympic Park - so more would be bothered to attend SFS then ANZ.

I didn't bring up the Bulldogs. The prelim crowds from 2006 were listed in a previous thread. I used the bulldogs v broncos game as a comparison because it was a Sydney club v Broncos, the closest we have to the game tonight. The bulldogs draw big crowds. The point is, why would we expect 10,000 more people at the game tonight when a team that draws bigger crowds got 29,000 against the same opposition. Not much point comparing the Cronulla v Cowboys game because neither get big crowds in Sydney and there's not much point comparing crowds at Manly games with crowds at Manly games so it leaves only 1 valid comparison, it just happens to be the 'dogs.

You have no idea how many you would have got at any other venue. Making claims like that is rediculous. How hard is it to catch a train to the SFS? Northern Beaches has no trains.

Pretty much every club in the game has had massive state funding to upgrade their grounds. The Manly-Warringah district is one of the safest Liberal areas in the country so Labor won't give them any money because they see no point in funding the area, Liberal won't give them money because they know people are going to vote for them anyway. Living in a marginal area is the best way to get funding. Even Redfern and Belmore have recieved funds for upgrades despite no NRL games being played at either ground.

I dunno. I've always thought the SFS was a pain in the arse to get to from the Beaches. Homebush is great whether you're driving or catching a specific event bus.

How hard is it to catch a ferry, what's your point? Belmore has no ferries. I think it's fair to we would've got a lot more at ANZ then the SFS seeing as though we got 26-27K Against the Broncos during the regular rounds at ANZ.

Yep, ferry makes it easier. Bus to Manly, ferry to city, bus to central, bus to SFS.

Belmore is a safe Labor seat... What's your point? If the club lobbies hard enough instead of whinging "Everyone hates us" maybe you'd go somewhere.

Do you have any idea at all what you're talking about? You clearly have no idea how much lobbying has gone into getting upgrades for Brookie. It doesn't help that the Premier is a butt-hurt Bears supporter who has expressed his feelings towards Manly.

Ferry to Circular Quay, train to Central... Not that hard.

Why a bus to Manly? SO the Bulldogs supporter by your logic would have to catch a Bus to Belmore, Train to Central, Bus to SFS?

Yep, because everyone on the Northern Beaches lives in Manly  It is a f**king battle to find a park in Manly, most of it is time restricted as well, most people don't use the Ferry to get to the SFS because it is a f**ken nightmare.

Bus to central or train to central makes no difference. I'm guessing bulldogs fans live near a number of train stations but yes, they would have to get there. Most Manly fans don't live near Manly wharf. In fact some people living on the northern beaches live 45 minutes drive from Manly. Those Bulldogs supporters (that live in the Canterbury Bankstown region) that don't live near Belmore probably live near Bankstown, Wiley Park, Liverpool or another train station.

Plenty of buses from Circular Quay go past the SFS e.g. 377, 376, 339, 372, 373.

Also 333 and 380 go nearby

Fair enough, I didn't know, but then I've never caught public transport to the SFS. Ferry is still next to useless unless you live in Manly and can walk to the wharf.

Pretty dumb statement there tbh.

Where do you think the prelim would've got a bigger crowd? A venue where the club's fans are used to going, directly adjacent to their core supporter base.... or, a venue EAST of the city, a congested through-city drive for most fans, difficult/expensive parking...

Sorry but if you don't think holding the 06 CBY/BRI prelim at ANZ would've resulted in a bigger crowd, you're a fool.
