31,894... Rabs announced it really early tonight.

How could he do that????
They never finally tally the crowd until after half time - late arrivals etc....

Sounds like a premeditated estimate if Rabs has already announced it.
I call bollocks.

The upper tier on the eastern stand is so bad for tv. The members stand always gets packed and the lower stands as well. It really skews the estimates.

I know it makes it look less full then it is.

BTW how many junior passes were handed out.

Crap manly turn out tbh..

3-4,000 broncos fans
2-3,000 neutral members and non-member fans

26-28,000 manly fans.. Only 6,000+ over brookvale capacity.

Should be selling out the sfs for prelims these days at least!

Pretty reasonable crowd given there was concern it was going to be 27K. Could be better, could've been alot worse

I can think of plenty of moments at ANZ that have been insanely loud, even the SFS.

- SFS 1997, Albert's try
- ANZ 2003, Sattler tackle
- ANZ 2005, Richards try
- ANZ 2008, Menzies try
- ANZ 2011, Minichiello Origin try

Just to name a few. Roars that went for minutes as well.

At the end of the day, I'm tipping this discussion is entirely subjective.

Geez you love the c**k hey?

shows where the game is at and still has alot of work ahead for the IC. On a plus the atmosphere sounded great and the Manly, and Broncos, fans made plenty of noise.

Yes.

For me the NRL need to look at how the finals are promoted and marketed, and determine if the game day experience itself could be improved.

That crowd is actually decent judging by the stories coming out in the previous few days but I still find it incredible that people were on here saying they wouldn't travel to the game to see a team they are "obsessed with" play in a prelim final because there might not be enough parking spaces available (!). That either says a lot about those fans or a lot about the finals experience the NRL are offering, or both.

It's been debated to death on here but clubs that have been around for the best part of a century in the real heartland of any sport worldwide should be able to (especially with free buses) get more than 25k of their own fans to one of the biggest games in their history. There are loads of other sports where tickets go from being readily available in the regular season to impossible to obtain in the playoffs. Why dont we have that demand?

People need to get the AFL chip off their shoulders as well. If you point out good things AFL clubs are doing to build their fan bases you get called a 'troll' or worse. We need to look at how they've built clubs with 50k members who are desperate to come back every year. Sydney is a bigger city and just as obsessed with sport - it should be perfectly possible.

This isn't intended as a dig at Manly. It was a par crowd, but we need to put actions in place to start getting them better.

30K at Ethiad? - this season will end up 18K short of the record - down ~ 0.4% - not bad considering the weather for most of the season

I was going to go last night but if I did, I wouldn't have been able to afford to go to the GF. I was so confident of a Manly win, I decided to risk missing out altogether so that I could go to the GF. Had Lockyer been fit, I would have been there last night, I have no doubt there are other Manly fans that thought the same way.
