Once people accept NRL is not as popular in Sydney as we would like then we will stop being disappointed at Sydney crowds.

I would be happy to admit this.

But there will be over 1,000,000 watching this game on TV tonight

If our tv stats were 50% of afl stats

We would cop 50% of crowds

Sharks average = 13470
Manly average = 13522
2nd week finals crowd boost = +???
Discount tickets = +???

Pretty poor crowd considering the circumstances.

Absolute crap. Honestly for their efforts this year both teams deserved better for a 4th v 5th semi final. Less than 12k per team. Terrible effort.

You would hope two local teams could draw at least 30-35k to such an important game but such is the level of support in an over saturated market.

The game deserved more, can't fault the 23K that turned up or the NRL for their discounted tickets over the past few days.

Questions need to be asked of these teams, week 2 of the finals, if/when the ARLC decide to cull Sydney teams, crowds will be a factor

Everybody who regularly posts on this thread who said that Broncos home and away season crowds were ordinary should hang their heads in shame.

Broncos crowds ARE shit.

BUT its not really their fault; what you just said expressed the problem perfectly. They, in a much bigger market than any other team, dont have crowds or membership to match. This isnt because Sydney fans are better in some way, its because the broncos are already the biggest club in the league, they dont need to push themselves.

This is why the NRL needs another brisbane team. Imagine if the Brothers came in and, within 5 years, had more members and bigger crowds than the Broncos, who had had a 25 year head start. Broncos would be so embarrassed that they would really start to push membership and crowds to the limits of their potential.

The thing that brisbane really needs is competition.

Agreed, bring in Brothers RL and the Broncos won't have the luxury of being a one team town and be the media darlings.

How can two Sydney teams get 23k to a week 2 elimination final when their combined crowd averages are over 26k. Disappointing. Those 3000 missed out on a great game.
