Souths v Easts will do great things for the season averages.

75k might be a little extreme but should be a certainty to get 50k if no rain

Souths need to make sure they don't look straight past the Tigers & show them no respect , to the minor premiership game the following week.

the Tigers were pretty good on Sat
& with it being Benjis last game in Sydney .... they'd love nothing more then sending him out a winner ... & jam it fair up Souths & their hopes of finishing on top.

a potential danger game if the bunnies don't come out in a ruthless mood firing against the Tigers

Will not get anywhere near 75,000. Will not even reach 50,000. Might get 40,000, but more likely somewhere in the in the range of 30-35,000.

Last Friday night the Souths v Bulldogs game could not even get 30,000 fans to attend. This was a game that Bulldog season ticket holders did not have to pay to enter the stadium. Rooster season ticket holders don't have the same advantage.

Outside of the game against the Bulldogs, Rooster fans this year have shown a reluctance to travel to away games in Sydney. Even that Bulldogs game drew only 20,000.

Should get 50k. Will get 30k.

Exactly. But people will still express surprise when it doesn't meet their expectations

The NRL SHOULD have had a major marketing campaign on TV, Pay TV and radio about the last 6 rounds. Just look at how close the ladder is to determine the composition of the final 8! Its a promoters dream with many of the teams in contention matched against each other.

BUT instead we have the same old crap and misguided advertising. First we where bombarded with origin ads to the point where it seemed the NRL competition had ceased to exist (something i feel has damaged this season in crowds terms beyond repair) then the Grand final adverts have kicked in, so yet again marquee club games are given bugger all air time on any platform. FFS more than half NRL the adverts on fox sports are for the One community! show this every now and again, not as a staple of the codes advertising on pay tv!!!!! On the adverts themselves this chick singning and dancing and talking is just shabby and cringe worthy. Time for a new advertising agency Greenberg

HQ cannot just leave promotion up to the clubs, they don't have the marketing budgets to appeal on mass and if they don't change this strategy then we will have the status quo from now until forever

Promote, cut the prices at the gate, 1 more afternoon game per week. Not to much to ask

Probably won't get over 40k.

We had 35k Souths fans to the prelim last year so that is the upper limit of our Sydney supporter base numbers. Assuming 5k of those can't show up, and Easts bring 7k (possibly optimistic), it'll be in the 35k-40k range.

However, with some decent hype and marketing, you could get 5k-10k neutrals. But that won't happen.

I think you're right about 35k being our limit - I don't think any Souths fan living within 90 minutes of ANZ stadium would've missed last years prelim.

If we can get close to 30k of those attending + 10k Roosters fans = 40k. Anything extra is a bonus. Anything less is a fail.

Just on marketing, in 2012 the NRL spent $14,730,317 in marketing and media expenses, presumably this year that will have increased with the game having more money. I'd love to know what it is spent on! The TV ads on Ch9 and Fox will be part of the contra agreement so what other advertising is the NRL doing for that sort of money?

Marketing meeting lunches, corporate boxes on game day for marketing execs, etc etc.You don`t think the money is spent on promoting the game do you.

Didn't think the crowd last night was bad for a Monday Night Game, and when the Sharks form the last couple of weeks had been rubbish.

More Roosters supporters there last night than the last few away teams brought on better timeslots, so kudos to Roosters supporters.
