Friday hasn't stopped every other game between the clubs being over 20k.

I guess it might not be worth the effort to get there on a Friday this year.

Good crowd i think. Parra vs dogs should get a lot more but this game was a tough sell. That plus they were pretty much all dogs fans.

Channel Nine commentator states 17,000 at Cowboys game is a great crowd. For a derby, season on the line, it is a disgraceful crowd. The Cowboys, along with clubs like Newcastle have shed 7-10,000 supporters in the last few years.

It will be interesting to see what Newcastle get on Sunday. Anything less than 25,000 then I'm afraid the game is on the nose with a lot of fans and we need to rectify why. I just hope the media's concerted efforts to chip away at the fabric of the game, blowing scandals out of proportion etc over the last few years, hasn't started to effect support.

Very true but that is just one of the reason's the game is nose diving (apart from SOO).

Apparently the Dragons-Tigpies game in round 24 has been shifted from Kogarah to the SCG (I'm on my phone, so couldn't be arsed hunting down an article). Strange move. Can't see the logic behind it at all.

Considering it is a Friday night, good crowd for the Qld Derby. Remind me which person with the brain (or lack of) that decided to put a Cowboys home game where fans travel 1000's of kilometres to see them on a Friday night! No wonder the crowd was lowish!

Canberras population 379,000 (9%) = 37,000

Get a crowd of 37,000 for a regular season game, then we will talk about passion.
Im sure you could squeeze in 37k into that dive of a stadium. :lol:

Last years Elim final was rough - 21k. So last night really wasn't bad.
