sorry, i dont buy any of this 'but it's a hole', 'but there are better stadiums in Melb' FACT : the team is a champion team - there is absolutely no excuse not to watch them play - heck I go to ANZ every 2nd week where you need binoculars to see the players and watch a team who i love despite them coming last 3 times in 7 years!!

You often need binoculars to see the fans there.

I was talking about Sydney teams crowds which is what I assumed your original post was about. 11,000 is not a decent crowd but should be tollerated in Melbournes case. Expansion areas should be supported at any cost.

Why? If they are big enough to play in the big comp, they should have comparable crowds. Unless you are about weakening our market.

No business in the world would kill an outlet to put on in a weaker market in the hope that one day it will be as good as the one it punted!

The Storm are already more valuable to the NRL then North Sydney could ever have been.

Take a rest loudy, the Storm are here to stay and are good for the game.

I don't know what everyone's on about re: the Knights crowd. I thought it looked a very good crowd. I'm surprised the figure was only 15k. Even with the stand out of action (and the stand didn't hold that many anyway) it looked like a good crowd. If the capacity is 22k I don't know where the other 7k is going to fit. The southern hill was chockers and the northern hill was pretty full. People are saying there was a lot of empty seats in the Johns Stand but there wasn't that many. A couple of thousand perhaps.

Current dispute with stadium management might see the Knights rounding down their figures at the moment.

Do South Sydney supporters get free entry to the game V the Bulldogs? IF so, that's already 14700 From the memebers of both teams (Ticket members), say 70% turn up at worst turns up, already 10K + Non-season ticket holders (Min 15K), + Easter Show extras, Neutrals & Corporates... We should crack 30K! Weather isn't looking to good, but it's still a week away, it can change! Anyway who buys tickets to this game please update your PAX Numbers here (YES even if people insist it's complete bullsh*t)...

Decent show by the Panthers, poor enough from the Roos and so so from the Dogs.

There is a recession. Mighty Collingwood got 43,000 at the MCG versus Melbourne opposition. Essendon had their smallest home crowd in years. Al league was way down.

Guys we are in recession so lighten up on the puppies. There were about 14,000 of them there. Not bad at all.

Last week the AFL had something like the 5th biggest crowd for a round of footy in history.

Rubbish.

Geelong only got 22,000 to a game the other day, everyone is struggling. Our figures are actually quite strong, the rounds so far are averaging out much better than previous seasons.

In fairness to Geelong, 22,000 in a 27,000 seater is not shambolic. Although, being one of the better teams, and playing against a well supported Richmond side, you would think they could have edged out a few more thousand.

Skilled (Geelong) doesn't even fit 27,000... 24k max. I think you'll find the game sold out but a few may have been no shows.

Anyway, my take on the Storm crowd - I actually found it a little dissapointing and I'd like to see us hitting 14k each week. In saying that though, it's a bloody tough market to crack... over 100k attended 3 AFL matches that day, and most people will be hesitant to back up one sporting event with another. Hopefully we can get a decent turnout against Penrith, but after Saturday night's performance, it's looking bloody unlikely!

You mean the Richmond side minus Cousins and coming off a 60 point thumping to Carlton..going to Geelong..perhaps that had a bit to do with it! The NRL would KILL to have 22,000 as a "poor crowd!

15,000 is generous even for a Roosters-Broncos game. I'd be amazed if it hit 13K let alone 15.

Another pretty healthy round. If your estimates for next week are right and we get an average of around 16.75-17k we'll be maintaining the average up to the 2007 levels which is well on track for our best season yet.
