If it weren't for the local QLD derby, they'd be lucky to get over 15k to Dairy Farmers after cowboys performances the last 2 weeks.

So, so far for Round 4 we have..
Friday
Broncos vs. Dragons @ Suncorp: 42,435
Roosters vs. Eels@ SFS: 11,231
Saturday
Panthers vs. Tigers @ CUA: 15,813
Storm vs. Titans @ Olympic Park: 11,698
Sunday
Warriors vs. Rabbitohs @ Mt Smart: 19,386
Knights vs. Sea Eagles @ Energy Australia: 15,324
Bulldogs vs. Sharks @ ANZ: 15,520
MNF
Raiders vs. Cowboys @ Canberra: 12193

Which gives us an average of 17,950 over the 8 games

too bad it just dipped below 18k.

Not too bad a turnout for most games, Roosters and Eels was disappointing though.

Well done to the Raiders fans for that good turn out for MNF.

Well either they have been ridiculously over-inflating for a long time, or it looks like far far less in person.

Also a massive :thumbd: for the ridiculous security staff confiscating a bongo on the way in.

eing defensive Tim. He is somply speaking the truth
Fugg your AFL nancy sh*t off to the twinkie forum please

No point being defensive Tim. He is simply speaking the truth. AFL is an excellent template for how to get peoples asses onto seats. Geelong will have sold out V Richmond and both played to monster crowds the week beofre and will go some way to filling the two big melbourne stadia next week. We need to look andtake what is positive not be defensive.

AFL did have poor crowds by their standards and there is a recession but drop thedefensiveness and let's pick up what we can.

Then you clearly have NFI.

Let me guess, you had a counter?

Rubbish.

Geelong only got 22,000 to a game the other day, everyone is struggling. Our figures are actually quite strong, the rounds so far are averaging out much better than previous seasons.

NRL averages are actually holding up better than expected: Bit dissappointed with our crowd at the gong - but historically its on par. Given the current climate I think there are some very positive signs for attendances generally (with a couple of obvious exceptions). Bulldogs V Souffs shoudl draw 30+ imho if the weather is good.

(will point out Geelong's ground only holds 22k due to renovations: it was basically a lock out.)

To be fair Tim, the AFL are also 2.5K up on their average figures from last year as well so i don't think either leagues are struggling in that way. Given this i don't think the recession as was brought up elsewhere has had any bearing on crowds overall given that both leagues averages are up.

That said certain individual clubs seem to be struggling boosting their crowd numbers which is much more of a concern given the financial situations of many clubs. I hate to think what will become of one or two of them if they can't get more people through the gates.

We did - we had at least 14,000 of the 15,520. Cronulla's fans failing to travel should shoulder the responsibility for the figure. Having said that, the figure was still an improvement on the 8-9k that the fixture drew last year.

Of course, but remember, last year was only down due to the fact half of NSW was waiting in line to jump on Noah's Arc.

Even so, it was a sh*t crowd. I thought Dogs pulled in the fans?.

IF Sydney NRL teams pulled there weight and supporters went to away games, the crowd on Sunday would have been 20K.

You cannot bag Bulldog supporters; we are the best traveling team in the NRL (Look at Penrith two weeks ago + just about every away game) and are consistently up there with the highest home crowd averages in Sydney (Even last year when we came last).

What's the knock on the Geelong AFL crowd on the weekend?

Any ground whether it be for the NRL or AFL is not going to be full to capacity with a grandstand knocked down to be re-developed.

The people who are knocking it are probably unaware that Geelong are re-developing there ground, that crowd should never have been brought up on this thread in the first place because quite frankly who gives a sh*t what they get!
