what rubbish.

only a few years ago penrith had the best crowds in sydney.

Correct me if I am wrong, but don't they now have the worst in the NRL?

FTR I'm not saying we should kick them out, but for a place that is in RL heartland with a heap of juniors, they should be doing a lot better.

But then again so should a lot of teams. I believe that with the right marketing, the right venues and the right ticket pricing and with less idiots like Watmough, Bird and Carney ruining the image of rugby league, all NRL teams can average 20k in the next 5-10 years.

You argument is poor, how do you know there is no atmosphere. You have never been there...

Consisent 7k crowds make the place have no atmosphere on tv.

Don't take it personal mate.

Shocked at the Gold Coast crowds. I just caught the last ten minutes of the game cause I didn't realise it was on, as did the rest of the coast by the looks of it. I hate the 1/2pm game on fox. Would personally rather a 6pm game on a Sunday night. Gold Coasters would go for it.
Plus move the last Super Saturday game to 3 or 4pm.

I second the Sharks moving to the SFS. It's just the same 7000 folk going and no one else. Those same fanatics will likely travel to SFS. At least the SFS might draw more away crowd plus others that hate Shark Park.

Revised Warriors crowd - 20,102

Source http://www.warriors.co.nz/

REVISED CROWD NUMBER FOR VODAFONE WARRRIORS-PARRAMATTA NRL MATCH
Final reconciliations have shown the crowd topped 20,000 for the Vodafone Warriors’ season-opening NRL clash against Parramatta at Mount Stadium on Saturday night.
The crowd number posted on the night was just under 17,500 but checks today revealed a fault with a scanner.
The revised figure is 20,102, one of the biggest turnouts for the first home match of the season in the club’s history.
Apart from a 30,000-strong crowd for the historic debut appearance against Brisbane in 1995, there have been only three other times when the equivalent fixture attracted a crowd of 20,000.

Looks like you beat me to this news, many Warriors fans suspected that 17500 was wrong and only the presolds.:D

Even still, can we ban "near sellout" reports? I know it's good news to have lots of tickets sold but we're selling ourselves short by reporting this rubbish. Cost Brisbane up to 2-3k...?

Think I just heard 17,392 for the Tigers/Raiders. Am I right or just hopeful?

How many does the ground hold, there seemed to be quite a few empty seats at the ends and room on the end hill.

Good crowd.

Reality is that most of the Sydney teams currently have between 9-12,000 home fans with averages being boosted by travelling "away" Sydney teams fans or blockbuster games. Only Dogs and Wests have more (probably15-17,000). Not surprisingly games at SFS and Stad Australia tend to draw bigger crowds as they are often more conveniant for travelling fans that are spread around the city. It is one of the advantages that AFL clubs have playing out of centralised stadia.

With Sharks/Penrith it is hard to know if there just isn't the interest from folk of the area or poor management by the club in working out ways to build the attendances. Probably a bit of both.

In years to come I can see Bulldogs, Wests and Sth's pulling even further away from the rest of the Sydney clubs in terms of attendances.
