Parramatta Eels had undisclosed payment register which outlined money paid outside of salary cap

THE file was simply called the Undisclosed Payment Register.

On it was a list of 25 current and former Parramatta Eels players who were slated to receive a secret payment outside of the NRL’s salary cap.

Obtained off the Parramatta Eels computer system when the NRL forensically examined the Eels football club offices, it also lists a host of businesses and individuals who were directly paying NRL players.

REVEALED: THE SECRET BOARDROOM TAPES THAT SHOCKED THE NRL

It is the smoking gun that led to the NRL hitting the Eels with the hard line punishment of being docked 12 competition points and fined $1 million.

For the legion of Parramatta Eels fans calling for answers as to why their club has been punished by the NRL, the Undisclosed Payment Register is what’s landed the club in so much hot water.


Like when the Melbourne Storm were caught cheating the salary cap in 2010, it is essentially a second set of books the Eels were running.

No one outside of the club’s powerbrokers was supposed to know of its existence.

These transcripts form part of the evidence the NRL used to determine that the Eels were cheating the cap and decide what the proposed punishment would be.

Yeah that's the testbook way of cheating the cap. A company over charges the club and then pays the extra to a player. It sounds like there they were actually kicking in an extra 50k to get the promotion company lady to do it.

The Eels were dumb enough to record it and have been smashed from within when they sacked the person presumably responsible for adopting these measures.
Obviously should have come clean etc, but guess they just thought that as everyone was doing it, then they would be OK

Maybe a whole new audit should be done on every club, but looks like Greenberg wants no more nasties out , just happy to cruel the club he spent all his time working against when in club admin

His acolyte at the eels certainly did the damage, wonder how much focus should now go on the NRL CEO for his advice etc , would be interesting to see that outcome
