Its great. The AFL was only 7 million. Its actually pretty impressive. The AFL kind of scare me. Parents (mothers) like Aussie Rules because it seems less violent and dangerous for little Johnny and every kid actually likes to KICK a ball. They are very well organised and their ability to roll out community engagement programs at grassroots levels in non-traditional AFL areas is impressive. When Super League was screwing the ARL and the Reds were in the Doldrums, and for a while after the Brisbane Lions made huge inroads up here and the AFL capitalised on it well from juniors to corporates. Your average attendance was 17,000 and change a game right? Rugby was 21,000 and change a game. Rugby admittedly was only a bit over 2,000,000 in total, well short of League, but it will be interesting to see what happens as the Super Rugby comp continues to grow (as it is historically has been growing) and adds teams etc.
