Your the private school bully that says to his mates outside of school "I love league" then once inside the school gates "Mungoball" "brainless plebs etc".
Well Said Canard. As I posted earlier, I went to a private boys school, where Union was (supposedly) all the rage, yet there were dozens of guys who did exactly that. "Closets".
Reminds me of a guy I used to work with in a leading bank in Sydney. He was a huge Knights fan, he came from hard working Newcastle, and yet he was a regular at the Waratahs games every Friday night. He admitted to me, it bored him to tears, but he tagged along with his Union loving banking buddies. His quote was "fake it til ya make it!" No doubt he thought it would help him with his career...it may have I don't know.
I can't say I was shocked though...I know many blokes who do the same. (some guys who play golf for example...don't get me wrong, I enjoy golf too).
But personally I wouldn't sit through anything and fake it, in the sad pathetic hope it got me a promotion. Life is just too f***** short!
My question therefore is, how many blokes in the crowd at a Union game are doing the same? How many are just sitting there, going through the motions, just to look good?
How many fair dinkum Union fans are there at a S15 game in Australia?
At an NRL game, (and Soccer & Aussie Rules) I would suggest about 98%* are real fans.
(* +/- 2% for accuracy)
So nobody actually likes union, every who attends the games are just doing so to jag a promotion or to impress the right people ?

Bourbon Bec must still be drunk, she came out today pretty much politely saying Pottinger is an imbecile and the NRL shits on Union from a great height

The corporate boxes at the league are full of well to do people just rubbing shoulders with other well to do people. They don't give a toss who is playing, they just want to sit next to Rusty or Nick or Gyngell or Tinkler or.................
poor old butch is still denying that French Rugby had Rugby League bannished with the help of the Nazi's
still think it's some "tale" that was made up in TFC
f**king idiot
butch is probably a holocaust denier too
I looked at the terror and can't see it, where was it posted mate?
We have to stop inventing these wild crazy myths, people are taking them way too far and proving far too much detail to make people think they're actually real
Suck on this butch you gigantic melonhead

Yeah it was on the inside back page. Not somewhere where it can be linked and shared of course

Reasoning behind the article "tv rights". I was at the scg today, spoke with a Ch9 exec, his view, $800m at tops for rl.
Before you all whinge he already had a systematic breakdown of all viewerships and advertising expectations, and this after a couple of frofies.
My question to him was, with better rating than the AFL hoe can you quantify these numbers he retired with:
Attendance
National audience
Female fans
I asked is that accurate? He said that the Sydney media is simply
Insular to the greater Australian market, which takes in the market of Perth where more millionaires reside per capita than any other city.
My apologies I've been on the tins myself.

I was at the scg for the test, had an invite into the members, as you can imagine a few people there were ch9 types, and I simply asked the question, what will the NRL get for it's rights.
Funnily enough one bloke kept going on about the new media platforms, for instance Apple are believed to be making a bid for EPL
Rights "BBC is the source".
Anyway, with a new media deal, he was saying the NRL could look to move the code to the Internet, which would create huge waves through the television industry.
Why wouldn't the NRL be happy with $800M? It's double what they have now.
Agree completelyEasy target when you don't fight back.
The Daily Telegraph mentality is the same as all News Limited papers - don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. The only problem is that the alternative - SMH - their sports section is dominated by a bunch of old Union toffs. And then again the editor of the Courier Mail is a Victorian AFL lover who'd rather talk about the Fremantle Dockers than the Maroons.
The investigative press is dying and being replaced by media giants who turn their papers into public relations arms and substitute journalism for advertising or cheap marketing stunts - or on other side of that coin, anonymous bloggers who have no need for editorial oversight and spout whatever they want.
In my opinion the free press is the cornerstone of any democratic capitalist society. It counterbalances industry, government and the justice system to project the rights and expectations of the people. We are all weaker for its demise and for articles like this.
Agree completely
and as i said you just dont see other sports recieve this kind of treatment from the media, which just act routinely like morons with constant lies and cheap shots
and only Hockeys treatment in the states is comparable
I remember there was some discussion in the Argentine press about increased violence in the stands (anyone who thinks the bulldogs fans are bad should check out the barra bravas, they crazy had knives pulled on us during games and they attacked jonothan bottinelli)
and when players from other sports get arrested it is'nt hung on the sport itself as some sort of reflection of poor culture
The difference between the scandals in the AFL and NRL often reflects the difference in style between Melbourne and Sydney. In Victoria scandals are downplayed, in Sydney they are amplified. Victorians rally around the AFL for the good of the game, and argue that player scandals shouldn’t detract from what’s happening on the park. In Sydney the games can often seem secondary to the scandals as the media and public throw themselves into discussion over whether league can ever recover from the latest player drama or administrative c**k-up.
