i hope we get him, his record speaks for itself, but is he the sort of coach that wants to be conservative andd restrict the teams natural flair or will he allow them to play freely?

Nope. Like I said earlier in the thread, he has Saints scoring from all quarters. This season, they scored 793 points from 22 regular season games. 36 points a game on average.

I absolutely LOVED the Warriors of that era. So great to watch. That left hand edge of Lauti'iti, Toopi and Meli was amazing. Boasted so much skill and a monstrous pack.

It's a tragedy that the majority of that side is now playing in England.

If we're gonna honour Hagan's contract, might not be too bad of an idea to get Anderson into the Club in some capacity next year anyways.

Re-familiarise him with the NRL in general and our Club specifically. Better than just throwing him in at the end of next season.

Excellent idea.
We just cannot afford to let him go anywhere else!!!!

yeah...100% correct mate, it won't be happening next year but if I was a betting man I'd say he'd be on board in 2010. and not that I'm privy to any info but I would imagine that it'd be announced prior to the 2009 kick off.

Stagger - why do I keep hearing otherwise ???
If I was a betting man - and Im not :), I would say that Parra will pay out Hages and Anderson will be our coach next year.
There will be a hell of a lot of blood letting at seasons end.

maybe fitzy has changed his ways stagger? however i believe if he was signed for next year it will be as an assistant with the long term objective of establishing Anderson as our coach.

Gullible hmmm ...havent been called that before... mind you Ive been called a hellva lot of other things
I suppose it will all sort itself out in the fullness of time but I believe that you are pretty close to the club so you must be hearing something.
MITS is pretty close too and I know that he knows more than he is letting on.
Im not too close to the Parra Club and I can only go on what Im told by those that are.
All I have been told is that Daniel Anderson is definately on the radar for next year and the problem is that Hages will not go quietly.
Therefore the club has some hard decisions to make. Either way, the rumours continue to exist.

he's probably on the radar but not for nest year..sorry to dissapoint.

btw, wouldn't you think it'd be hyparcitical for For Fitzy and the board to come to a decision to pay Hagan out after all the whinging and carrying about how much the pokie tax and smoking laws has effected our leagues club??

I'll stop short of saying that the leagues club has a cash flow crises but we're definitely bleeding..big big time.

imagine the money all the whinging when we're averaging 7,000 crowds next year, paying out a bloke could mean the difference betwee us averaging 7,000 or 15,000.

I know the question wasn't aimed at me, but for mine it wouldn't be hypocritical because they have to weigh up the cost of axing him vs the possible cost of keeping him. The way I see it....if we play how many expect us to next year under Hages, we'll lose a bundle in gate takings, STH, food and drink at the grounds, patrons heading to the club after the game, merchandise etc etc. That might mean the club could decide it's worth axing him and paying him out.

That said, I'm on your side here...we haven't axed anyone before and I can't see it happening now. And there's no way Hages will jump

I know we are - as is everyone. But there is something else on the horizon and its to do with what the players want. They definately are not going to sit still and go through 2009 playing the same style as this year. Im told there are big time rumblings. If you invest heavily in a product you dont want those products wanting to be released because they want to play under a decent coach.
Same with sponsors / fans.
Fitzy may just have to make a hard decision and as a business man, it may just be to get rid of Hages. In the long run , it may be the 'cheaper' thing to do.

Anderson plays down link

St Helens coach Daniel Anderson has quashed rumours he is in line to take over at Parramatta when he returns to Australia at the end of the season.

Anderson has been tipped for the role after a poor run of form has put pressure on Eels boss Michael Hagan.

Ex-New Zealand boss Anderson told Rugby League Express: "No one has spoken to me about this. It's complete garbage. The situation remains unchanged."

has fitzy been that successful as a businessman though? don't know many CEO's who still have jobs after only generating a couple of mild profits in 20+ years.
