Danny Buderus - still holding NSW back

His defense was outstanding... he was first into a tackle at leats a dozen times and his ability... as a 91kg bloke to rush in at full speed and stop the likes of Webb and Civoneceva in their tracks before forwards come in to complete the tackle cannot be fully appreciated by average fans with little knowledge of the game. Thta kind of defense sets the platform to win the battle of line speed, the advantage line and the play the ball/ruck... Buderus set it up tonight.... didn't give QLD an inch.

Trust Shorty to come up with the comment above, grab your Buderus hate bandwagon and stick it fair up your arse. Thurston should be your worry atm.

He made 31 tackles and missed 0 tonight in his 57 minutes, very good defensively :)

I don't see his lack of offensive capabilities a problem tbh, that's what we have halves for... :sarcasm:

lol... people expect buderus to set up 10 tries and make 50 line breaks to have a good game. what they fail to see is him constantly busting his arse, being the first one into tackles.. clean up work.. rolling the forwards over the advantage line consistantly whenever he's on the field.. organising the defence.. his leadership.. his crisp service from dummy half.. etc.. etc.. etc.
Shussh...that counts for nothing unless he does something eye-catching like make a break and run 50m down the field then flick pass it out the back. It reminds me of William Wallace's line from Braveheart:

Danny Buderus: Sons of New South Wales! I am Danny Buderus.
NSW Fan: Danny Buderus is seven feet tall!
Danny Buderus: Yes, I've heard. Kills men by the hundreds. And if HE were here, he'd consume the Queenslanders with fireballs from his eyes, and bolts of lightning from his arse.

Message to Danny, if you want to earn some praise in Game 2 then i suggest you consume the Qlder's with fireballs from your eyes and bolts of lightning from your arse.

Anything less will simply not suffice.

I was thinking of bumping the 'Buderus missed tackle watch' thread but I saw this first...

Mr Nick...of course its obvious which team you support and which religion you worship (that being the divine Dally M points) however if you can't recognise a man who just outplayed the best hooker in the world currently you might as well go support QLD if you want to direct your hate towards him.

I was going too as well, it's only like 8 topics down in NRL forum. 0 :D

Buderus was excellent in defence although had NO impact in attack. However, in origin that's not such a bad thing- the games are generally low-scoring and the presence of other playmakers compensate for the man with the attacking flair of Sizzler Simmons.

Wow, the bias is strong here. Buderus was woeful. Apart from niggly little sh*t that he should have been penalised for when he was at marker, he offered nothing all night. Well past it.

He well and truely outplayed Smith, I think any player would take that as a decent yard stick of having a great game.

Buderus did nothing special, not that anyone really thought he would.

He was completely ineffective in attack. Farah is a good chance of playing in Origin 2 if he remains half fit.

Smith was played out of the game by poor coaching more than anything. Qld looked to have the same playbook as the Cowboys, ie. "Give it to Thurston" as often as possible. Then the ever hopeless and even more useless than Buderus, PJ Marsh, runs onto the field and does all the dummy half play and Smith is left in limbo.

Tate will be dumped for sure. After the first half, the qld selectors should have had a red line through his name for Origin 2, with the comment "Never pick this player ever again"

I think he played alright. Definately not his best performance in a blues jersey, but puts in everytime and he never lets anyone down... He used to make mad runs out of dummy half like 4 or 5 times a game to get penalties and make line breaks but isnt up to that any more I think.

Like in all honesty its dead obvoius he isnt the player he used to be, but he deserves the spot and captancy as well. His defence was outstanding once again, on attack he wasnt as dynamic but gave decent service and nothing was lost. He never kicks anyway and Wallace was kicking great so didnt really need to kick.

Farah hasnt got a shade on Buderus, once again, one of the blues best

Apart from defence there is no aspect of Buderus' game that is superior to Farah.

Farah is better in attack, kicking in general play and he can even goal kick at a moderate level.

Ohh Buderus is a good captain as well...

If we're going to praise him for his efforts last night we should focus on his defence. I don't think he would be gloating about throwing a 2 metre forward pass, a few bootlace specials and attempting a dart down the blind followed by a terrible inside ball to an unsuspecting team mate.

He was taken off after 57 minutes yet some of you are waxing lyrical about his performance as if he played out the entire 80.

bedsy also has a better running game from dummy half and is a better ball distributor.

oh, and you neglect the fact that Bedsy is the best defensive #9 in the game by a long way, and Farah is among the worst. it isn't like bedsy just shades Farah in defence, he bends him over and has his way with him.

i don't think bedsy is ever going to appease his detractors to be honest. the bloke can't take a trick apparently.. even when he leads his state team to victory against the odds.
